October 2024 Ipsy Glam Bag
Purchased by me

I am well aware that it is June, but hear me out! With the Canada Post strike at the beginning of November, this bag actually arrived AFTER my November Ipsy! Now, with Tariff War 2025 happening, I have slowed down my Ipsy subscription (they only let you skip every other month) in order to avoid the exchange rate and focusing less on American goods. When I did start using the October Ipsy bag I did notice that almost every product felt more suited to NOW than October so it all worked out!

WINGME COSMETICS | All Over Eyeshadow Brush
Wingme Cosmetics All Over Eyeshadow Brush

I wish there was a way to specify in Ipsy that I DO NOT want make up brushes anymore! While the bristles feel soft, the size of the brush seems a bit large for my eye shape so I will unfortunately be gifting it to someone with more eyelid surface area. I received the full size which retails for $18 USD.

TATCHA | The Rice Wash

Tatcha The Rice Wash Cleanser

I am actually surprised that I have not tried this cleanser as I feel like I have tried so many things from Tatcha over the years! This has a fairly pleasant scent, like most Tatcha products, and uses rice powder, Japanese algae, hyaluronic acid and Tatcha's Hadasei-3 complex to gently wash away impurities while gently exfoliating to reveal luminous skin. As this does have granules in it, you will need to avoid the eyes, but other than that, this was a perfectly pleasant and creamy cleanser that did not strip my skin at all! I received a deluxe sample valued at $5 USD.

F.A.R.A.H | Smooth Focus Face Primer
Farah Smooth Focus Face Primer

Farah Smooth Focus Face Primer

I have never heard of this brand, but then again that happens often with Ipsy as there are SO MANY smaller American brands out there! This face primer initially looks like it will be all slick and silicony, but then as you blend, it develops an ever so subtle tackiness that reminds me of a toned down version of Milk's Hydrogrip Primer in a good way! I've been using this as part of my daily routine and have been enjoying it! I received a deluxe sample valued at $7.33 USD.

THREAD BEAUTY | Face It Multi-Use Complexion Stick in Shade 40 Light Neutral Warm
Thread Beauty Face It Multi Complexion Stick

I was MOST excited about this product because ever since last year, I have really been into foundation sticks for ease, convenience and speed in the mornings. This shade is a touch too warm on me, but with blending it's not too noticeable. I liked the packaging (reminds me of Thrive Causemetics?) and the formula had decent coverage somewhere in the light to medium range. It is buildable so I found that I could go in with a heavier hand to touch up areas like my undereyes, but generally all I needed was a few little swipes in areas that needed some evening out and then blended with a foundation brush. The full size of this product is $8 for 9.5g of product and this deluxe sample alone was 5g! This deluxe sample is valued at $5.94 USD.

MOONSLICE BEAUTY | Pressed Blush in Gorgeous

Moonslice Beauty Pressed Blush in Gorgeous Swatch

I feel like with how coral this blush is, it is PERFECT for the summer! Who is looking for a coral blush in the Fall?! Okay maybe some of us, but generally I think of coral for the summer and this one is PIGMENTED! I take one little dip into the pan with my brush and I am good for both cheeks! It isn't too reflective and looks fairly matte which is nice as the other coral blush I have has highlight in it and some days you don't want that you know? I received the full size valued at $15 USD.

October 2024 Ipsy Glam Bag

Final verdict: At the time I was charged, and there was no tariff war, the exchange rate calculated this bag to be $27.67 CDN. The current value of this bag is $70.36 which from looking at this bag, doesn't feel like over $50. While I did enjoy four of the products, October's Ipsy bag didn't quite feel worth the $$$.

Do you think I should continue with Ipsy? I do like the surprise element and I have been using all the samples they give, but I just HATE the makeup brushes!
