SHEET MASK | A by Bom Honey and Blue Cica Sheet Masks

A by Bom Honey and Blue Cica Sheet Masks
Purchased by me

Here we are at the last Sunday of May! I feel like once it hits June, my brain automatically goes into summer vacation mode even though I haven't been off a single summer since my UBC days! Then again, even work feels different when the weather is warm and you see people coming into the store in summer clothing and sunglasses. To mark the beginning of summer, starting on June 1st, I will be doing a blog series entitled "The Summer of Sheet Masks" in an effort to get through some of my sheet mask stash (and not buy anymore for awhile). In addition to #SheetMaskSundays, I will be adding in reviews every Wednesday all the way up until September! I know some of you may be over sheet masking, but I never will be! They are a part of me now LOL!

Honey Cica Ultra Royal Glow Queen Mask
A by Bom Honey Cica Sheet Mask Review

I LOVE the Korean brand A by BOM. Ever since I tried their multi-step Ultra Cool Leaf Mask, I was hooked on their ideas and concept of sheet masking. They also place a lot of focus on calming and anti-inflammatory ingredients like propolis and Centella asiatica and I have enjoyed every mask I have purchased from them.

In addition to a few other A by Bom masks, I picked up the two masks up for review today from Bemused Korea, one of my favourite Kbeauty sites. When you have a mask that says the "effects of the mask will give off a brilliant aura in the same way a Queen's elegance captivates her subjects", I'm there! This mask contains manuka honey, royal jelly extract, green propolis extract and moringa seed oil. This glowing cocktail of ingredients are also all at the top of the ingredients list!

A by Bom Honey Cica Sheet Mask Review

So, considering the fact that I have tried a couple of A by Bom masks at this point, I was unimpressed with how this mask was fitting. I am not sure if the essence had dried up (the mask was set to expire next month), but compared to the normally super moist masks, this mask seemed to be extra wrinkly and had excess "flappage" on the sides. The results were still very good though!

Mask Summary (Honey Cica):

Price: $2.99 USD

Skin concerns: Dullness

Scent: Honey

Essence Type: Thick, slightly jelly texture

Duration: 20 minutes

Thickness: Thin

Mask Fit: A little more wrinkly than other A by Bom masks I have tried, but still pretty good!

Tackiness: Super light

Hydration: Good!

Other notes: A bit dry on the essence as I felt like the mask could have been a bit more moist, but maybe because the mask was close to its expiration date, the essence had dried up?

Blue Cica Soothing Mask
A by Bom Blue Cica Sheet Mask Review

This is a calming mask containing Centella asiastica or the infamous cica/tigergrass as well azulene, spirulina, seawater, hyaluronic acid and wakame extract (kelp) which works to combat environmental stressors, replenish dry skin and restore the skin barrier.

A by Bom Blue Cica Sheet Mask Review

Mask Summary (Blue Cica):

Price: $2.99 USD

Skin concerns: Sensitivity

Scent: Refreshing like water? I am terrible at describing scents, sorry!

Essence Type: Thick, slightly jelly texture

Duration: 20 minutes

Thickness: Thin

Mask Fit: A little more wrinkly than other A by Bom masks I have tried. The forehead also felt a bit short and the sides of the mask felt quite "flappy".

Tackiness: Super light and left my skin feeling supple with a slight bounce

Hydration: Good!

Other notes: A bit dry on the essence as I felt like the mask could have been a bit more moist, but maybe because the mask was close to its expiration date, the essence had dried up?

A by Bom Honey and Blue Cica Sheet Masks

Final verdict: While the results of these two masks were good, the mask fit was not as nice as other A by Bom masks I have tried. I will stick with their multi-step masks as those seem to be the nicest, but I find the brand super innovative so I am always up for trying anything new from them!

You can find A by Bom at various Korean e-tailers. Unfortunately, it looks like Bemused Korea no longer carries the brand.
