May 2012 Sweet Delight Divalicious Box–Summer Edition!

Hi Everyone!

To be honest, I wasn’t actually planning on getting another Divalicious Box because I am still working through my samples from the last one, but when I had a look at the list of contributors the night before the boxes went on sale, I knew I was going to be waking up early…5am specifically with me living on the West Coast and the boxes going on sale at 8am ET and then selling out in 2 hours! Oh, the things we do for beauty boxes! It was well worth the effort though because just like last time, this Divalicious Box was filled to the brim with goodies!

Firstly, there was jewellery from The Curious Cupcake and Bacon Time with the Hungry Hungry Hypo in the form of a cute little peas in a pod pendant and heart lock earrings that say “Made with Love” on them! Awww! These are so cute!

Next up, whipped body butter from Organics and Bath, Coconut Lime Verbena Body Butter from Mainely Cole’s, Coconut-Mango Hand Cream from Tubtown Scents, Coconut Lemongrass Lotion from Ola Tropical Organics (received a lotion from them last time and I loved every last drop of it!) and Bugs Away Coconut Lime Body Mist from Willow Tree Collections.

And here is what I was most excited about! The makeup products! I received a LipZipz Twist lip balm which has a hook that lets you loop this lip balm onto anything so that you won’t lose it, a bottle of Del Sol nail polish in Prima Donna that changes colour in the sun(!!!!), Gettin’ Lippy lip balm in pink watermelon, green apple and red strawberry (you SNAP OFF the flavours when you get tired of one!), mineral lip gloss in Barely There by Paperdoll Mineral Cosmetics and Lip Glam Lip Gloss by Giella.

And finally, two bars of soap in the scents “Piper” and “Gwen” from Alegna Soap, one bar of soap from The Lemon Cat in “Almond Lemon”, Rosemary, Lemon and Eucalyptus bar soap from Watershed Naturals (right here in BC!), a scented tea light from Me and the Boy, a sample pack of Sweet Orange and Vanilla Body Butter from Amedaya Bodycare, Strawberry and Champagne Bubble Bath Powder from ReNewell Body Care, scented pen in Passion Fruit from Smens and a peppermint lip balm and sample of shea butter from Abibirem  Beauty.

Unfortunately, the lip balm from Abibirem Beauty smelled really stale…it’s actually so unpleasant that I think I’ll have to throw it out…I’m not sure what happened there, but that’s ok. This is still a wonderful wonderful box and I like this edition’s Divalicious Box more than the last one mainly because of the addition of makeup products Smile. I hope I don’t have to get up at 5am for the next box, but hell, I’ll do it if they’re all this good!

April 2012 Glymm Box

Hello!

So, this looks like the last beauty box that I will be receiving this month as Glossybox and Luxe Box are slated to arrive at the beginning of March for me, but oh well, as long as I get a box I’m happy! Being out west, I always feel like my posts are always the last guests to arrive at a party, but these are one of my favourite posts to do! It’s like sharing with everyone what I’ve gotten for Christmas!

So, this month’s Glymm box has been met with less than stellar reactions and I suppose you can lump me into that category as well, but that’s alright, I still love Glymm just maybe not as much this month.

Here are the products I received this month:

Free Your Mane Sulfate-Free Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner

DSCF3774

Excitement Level: Ummm, I feel like I’ve been flooded with shampoo and conditioner samples lately. I don’t think I’ve even been using my regular shampoo this month, I’ve just been working on samples! I do like the colours on the packages though. The blue makes me happy.

Full Size: 300mL/$16.00

I Received: 14.8ml/$0.79 (shampoo and conditioner)

Lucia Soap No.1

DSCF3775

Excitement Level: I always have a bar of soap in the shower just in case I’m too lazy to use a bath puff, so this was a nice sample for me. It smells very creamy and rich and reminds me of staying in a swanky hotel. I think I will enjoy this product.

Full Size: 8 soaps/$17.50

I Received: 1 soap/$2.19

Atelier Cologne in the Fragrance Orange Sanguine

DSCF3782

DSCF3784

Excitement Level: This smells so good! I love the smell of oranges so this perfume is definitely something I would wear. I know the sample was nothing too special, but I’ll give a thumbs up to the way it was packaged. It came with a postcard sealed in parchment paper which was cute. I also received two samples, did anyone else?

Full Size: Let’s go with 200mL/$165.00

I Received: Doesn’t say, so 2 x 2mL/$3.30

Mai Couture Social Gloss in G’Vinity

DSCF3777

DSCF3781

Excitement Level: What sort of name for a lipgloss is that? I keep wanting to say “virginity”. I use lip glosses all the time, so I will welcome this one into the ever-growing family, but it’s not exactly a colour I would wear. It’s very champagne in colour and gives my lips a frosty finish which I don’t really like.

Full Size: 5mL/$28.00

I Received: *FULL SIZE*

*Bonus* NuMe $100 Gift Certificate

DSCF3786

I don’t think I will be using this gift certificate because I already own a good straightener and curler. I was about to use this for some of their other hair products and accessories, but unfortunately it only works if you buy an actual styling tool. All NuMe styling tools are over $100 so you will be paying a balance plus shipping of $15 to Canada, but if you are in the market for some good styling tools, this is a great deal.

Total Value of Glymm Box: $34.28 (without gift certificate)

Sweet Delight Divalicious Sample Box

Hi Girls!
I’m glad you all were pleasantly surprised by my last postSmile. I will warn you that there won’t be anymore jewellery surprises at the end of this one! Today I wanted to share another sample box, this one is similar to the Sampler Village Box ($35) I reviewed a little while ago.

Divalicious Sampler Village
Origins? New Brunswick, Canada Quakertown, PA, USA
Price? $26 $35 (to Canada)
When? Every season Every month
# Samples 10 - 15 15 - 20

The Divalicious box tends to be very popular with this last one selling out in 4 hours! I’m ashamed to admit that I was up at 7am to score one for myself!

Overall, I found the samples in this box to be MUCH more generous than those of the Sampler Village box and it was nice to have a good number of Canadian sellers featured in this season’s Divalicious box. In total, I received 24 individual samples, mostly soaps and lotions, just like CityGirl mentioned in her review of this month’s Divalicious box as well as some candles. If you are more of a makeup person, then I don’t think you’ll appreciate this type of box all that much. I was quite pleased that I received WHOLE bars of soap as opposed to the tiny afterthoughts of soap that I received as samples from some sellers in the Sampler Village Box.

Based on this first experience, I definitely would order again! Samples sizes were great, shipping was fast and I loved getting to know some Canadian sellers! The next Divalicious box is scheduled for May/June, so if you’re interested in getting a box, I would probably sign up for updates on their site since they sell out so quickly!

Have You Visited Sampler Village?

 Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday afternoon! Today I wanted to share with you yet another sampler box, seeing as they are all the rage at the moment! This is a sampler box from a service called The Sampler Village founded by Traci Porczynski that provide samples from Etsy sellers and promotes artisans and their craft. I really liked the idea behind this sampler box because I know I'm supporting the little guys you know?

There are three types of boxes available: the Charmingly Samplicious Sampler Box ($25), the Lavishly Samplicious Sampler Box ($40) and the Yummylicious Treats Sampler Box ($40). Unfortunately for us Canadians, only the Charmingly Samplicious Sampler Box is available to us. I think because the other two have food products we are banned :-( Oh well, I'll take what I can get! This isn't a subscription-based service so new boxes are available on the 21st of each month and from what I've seen, sell out within the week! I actually wrote it down in my calendar so I wouldn't forget! Each month also has a theme and new featured villagers so for the month of February, it was "Rainbow Wishes".

These were the items I received that weren't bath-related. A recycled notepad, postcard, print, crocheted flower, scented beads and a cake topper (unexpected!)

DSCF3520
These were the soap samples I received. My favourite has to be the "space invaders" soap on the left :-)

DSCF3522
These were the candle and body lotion samples I received. Most of the candles were soy. You can also see that some of the sellers have given promotion codes if you decide to order more of their product.

DSCF3523
I received 20 samples for $35 ($10 shipping to Canada) which I think is a little expensive so this definitely won't be a monthly thing for me. Maybe if the theme is something fun and cute...This was something I was just curious about and was also a good way to get introduced to new sellers on Etsy. I'll probably order again in the future since the sellers featured do change monthly. I'll admit that I wasn't absolutely in love with everything I got, but that's all part of the fun and surprise as all of us sample box experts know! As for service, this shipped out the day after I bought the box and took only 7 business days to get to me from Pennsylvania so really quick!
