January 2013 Luvs

January was all about comfort for me so I didn’t branch out too much especially when it came to trying new makeup products. I basically stuck to what worked or rediscovered old treasures.

skoah Body Skrub

I picked this up after a spa appointment few weeks ago and it was love at first sniff! I can’t quite pinpoint the scent, but it smells a lot like lemon and lime so there is quite a kick to this scrub! This is one of those scrubs that have beads which melt into your skin and one tip I was given by one of the skoah girls was to apply this my skin DRY and then rinse off in the shower which leaves my skin extra soft!

Origins Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Buffing Cleanser

This doesn’t smell like grapefruit to me, but more like a citrus candy which makes my mouth water whenever I use it! I found the exfoliating factor of this scrub to be on the mild side so I can use this everyday without my skin being irritated. The interesting thing about this product is that it lathers up as you use it! It’s like a foaming cleanser for your body!

Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray

I purchased this about a year and half ago and rediscovered this in early January because I suddenly remembered how good it smelled! I don’t really think it makes my hair any more shiny, but those of you who enjoy the scent of Moroccanoil products will know what I mean! I use this directly after straightening my hair almost like a hair perfume.

Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray

I received this in my December 2011 Luxe Box and I’m not normally a hairspray user so this product was lost on me at the time, but now that I have bangs, I have been using this every day on them as it provides hold while still allowing them to move naturally. It also has that characteristic Moroccanoil scent.

skoah Kalm Down Mask

Even though it says “mask”, I use it almost as a moisturizer because the consistency is totally unlike a typical mask! It actually can be massaged into your skin and keeps it hydrated. This contains vitamin E, bearberry, comfrey root, frankincense and plant extracts like gingko biloba that serve to combat rosacea and dry, red, irritated sunburned skin. I was experiencing quite a bit of redness around my nose, cheeks and chin so this has been my go-to at night. This also soothes the skin around my eyebrows after tweezing.

Ecotools Eye Shadow Brush

This is the perfect pointed brush tip for applying eye shadow along the lower lash line as well as in the crease. There is a sharpener at the end as well. I love the precision I have when using this.

MUFE Aqua Shadow Waterproof Eye Shadow Pencil in 20E

This is a beautiful shimmery light brown that refuses to budge even without primer! I love these waterproof pencils because they are so quick and easy to use and can make me look like I have a put-together eye look with just a few swipes of this pencil!

MUFE Pro Finish Foundation in Shade 120

I raved about this product in my review a few weeks back so I won’t say too much more about it, but I can’t see myself using anything else. I’m so unbelievably happy this product is in my life because my skin just looks so flawless when using it.

No Bleeding Lips Secret Lip Liner

When I saw this product being promoted by Loose Button, I was very “meh” about it, but when it appeared in Shoppers Drug Mart for $14.99 during 20x the points, I decided to try it. It turned out to be a great decision! It actually locks in colour and keeps my lipgloss from feathering as the day goes on!

I feel like I discovered some new staples this past month and I have been hesitant to try new products because I just want to stick to these!

  6. Ohh, I've been looking at that lip liner for a little while, too, but wasn't sure about trying it for that price. Maybe I'll follow your lead and pick it up the next time there's a 20x the points event, haha.
