FOTD Friday | Hard Candy Natural Eyes Neutral Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Following up with my Hard Candy nail post from a few weeks back (here), I have been waiting with glee to finally share the joys of the Natural Eyes Neutral Eyeshadow Palette*($7.98 CDN) that has been just wow for me. I have always wanted to give Hard Candy makeup a whirl, but maybe I needed some guidance as to where to begin. Natural eye palettes are a good place to start when trying out a new makeup line because at this point in the beauty game, we have certain standards that ALL neutral palettes must abide by. I must be able to take the palette from day to night and I can’t use up too much brain power when trying to put a look together. Behold an incredibly priced AND gorgeous option!

Housed in a hard golden tin, the Natural Eyes palette contains 9 eyeshadows as well as the bestselling Eyes the Limit Long Wear Eyeshadow Primer and mini Take Me Out Liner in Soy. A welcome surprise in this palette was the addition of one of the nicest eyeshadow applicators I have ever seen! It picks up and applies shadow beautifully because it has an almost sponge-like texture found in most blending sponges.

There are three 3 looks that can be done using this palette with the day look being row 1 (horizontal), evening in row 2 and finally night in row 3. Granted “evening” and “night” seem fairly interchangeable in my mind. The palette also comes with simple instructions on how to achieve each look.

I also decided to try the crazy shiny Hard Candy Fierce Effects Lip Gloss in Knockout Punch* (4.98 CDN) and 1000 Lashes Mascara in Midnight Black* (5.98 CDN). The lip gloss was a bit unwieldy in terms of getting a crisp line around my cupid’s bow, but did have some crazy glossy colour payoff. Unfortunately, the mascara did nothing for my baby lashes despite applying 3 coats. The formula is incredibly light so those with lashes will probably find this mascara just fine.

Final verdict: This palette for $8 is positively smashing! Pigmentation was bang on, my swatches are without primer and I felt like I could have kept the swatches going all the way around my arm! I even love the eyeliner and primer that were included! What a great little kit for ANYONE. The eyeshadow applicator can be washed like a regular makeup sponge and reused. I have nothing but positive things to say about this palette and highly recommend it if you can get your hands on it!
