MAKEUP LOOK | Mary Kay Natural Essentials Eyeshadow Set Review with Swatches

Yay! The Mary Kay Summer Collection is here! In the last two years, I have been pleasantly surprised with what Mary Kay has had to offer in the way of colour cosmetics. Though last year's collection was a bit more comprehensive, there were a few items from this year's summer line up that I have been enjoying! I am always a sucker for eyeshadows and anything shiny so when I saw that Mary Kay had a shiny rose gold compact filled with six of the most essential neutral eyeshadows, I merely just stared at it with glassy wonderment.

The Natural Essentials Set* ($76.00 CDN with compact and $54.00 CDN without) is a collection of six eyeshadows in the shades: Sweet Cream, Spun Silk, Moonstone, Rosegold, Driftwood and Espresso. You have a bit of everything in here though Rosegold (Shade #4) made my heart stop with its shimmery awesomeness. You can purchase the shades on their own if you have a Z or UNII palette to house them in or you can fit them all in neatly inside this purse-friendly shiny rose gold compact!

All six shades were quite soft, pigmented and swatched quite easily with the three lighter shades needing an extra swipe or two for maximum colour payoff.

Mary Kay has always been a brand that supports women and gives back to the community and this season, $1 from every purchase of the limited edition Beauty that Counts Hearts Together Lipstick* ($18.00 CDN) will go towards the Look Good Feel Better program. This is a sheer, shimmery pink lipstick that I wouldn't normally wear, but the hearts on the side and its pure sweetness in colour still make me go "Awwww!"

I was planning on just doing an everyday neutrals look, but suddenly I felt the need for some colour and decided to have a little fun with the lower lash line!

Final verdict: Though I found the eyeshadows to be of good quality, I found the price a bit high even without the compact. $54 can get you a decently sized high-end eyeshadow palette with larger eyeshadows so based on the price and weight I will unfortunately have to pass on this set.
