BEAUTY | Kiss Falscara Wisps 10 Day Wear Test (Can They Really Last?)

Kiss Falscara Review
Purchased by me

I honestly feel like I am going back to my OG days of beauty blogging and purchasing things on my own and then having this incredible freedom to talk about things whenever I want to and HOWever I want to, which means that a lot of what I discuss here are TRULY things that I love and want to rave about. Shortly after recovering from shingles, I felt the urge to bring focus to my eyes as I decided that I would be firmly wearing an N95 at all times at work as shingles was brought on by catching the 'vid at work again in 5 months. You know, the last time I was sick was in 2018? I don't get sick much and I go out waaaay less now so I know I'm catching it from work whether it's employees or clients I am no longer taking the risk.

So, I am watching @beautygeeks (Janine Falcon) one day and I see her apply these Kiss Falscara lashes super fast and then she tells me that these can last more than a day? Then after some research, I read that these can last up to 10 days without reapplication? Is this the temporary lash extension I have been looking for? YES. The answer is a resounding yes, but not without a tiny bit of trial and error!

EXPERIENCE | I Got a Yumi Lash Lift!

I paid full price for this service.

I did it. Other than getting my eyebrows microbladed (far more intense!), this is the first "cosmetic procedure" I have done in more than 2 years and after going through the pain and maintenance of eyelash extensions years ago, a Yumi Lash Lift was always something I had wanted to try as it seemed far less annoying to keep up with. The next question is: what is a Yumi Lash Lift? Essentially, this is a patented semi-permanent treatment that boosts and lifts your natural lashes making your eyes look more open and you more bright-eyed and bushy tailed! In some of the before and after photos, some people looked like they had falsies on once they had the procedure done and even after looking at the results of short Asian lashes, the procedure seemed pretty promising! Now, that I have had it done, I can't say I don't enjoy not having to curl my lashes as well as having extra length I never knew I had!

MAKEUP | MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Stretch Mascara Review with Before & After Shots!

Ah, mascaras. There are so many of you and yet I can never find the right one. My last MAKE UP FOR EVER mascara review was for the Smoky Extravagant (here) which had a rather large conical brush and gave rather dramatic results. Today is all about its descendant Smoky Stretch* ($28.00 CDN) which is all about length, intense black colour and a formula that is just smooooth. Formulated with Locust Tree Alginate Jelly(algin) and silk protein (sericin), this newest mascara formulation promises to define and elongate even the finest of lashes.

EYELASH REVIEW | ESQIDO Mink Collection in Style “Unforgettable”

I feel like THIS is the year of the false lash for me. I had said in my beauty resolutions guest post that I vowed to get more comfortable with an eyelash curler, eyeshadow colours and applying false lashes. Although the eyelash curler is still something I haven’t mastered, I can honestly say that I am trying hard with the latter two resolutions. The more false lashes I try, the more I know what I want and I want quality. ESQIDO false lashes are professional grade mink lashes with a soft, handmade cotton lash band that are soft and fluttery in appearance yet have a wear time of up to 25 applications.

MAKEUP LOOK | MAC Cosmetics Bao Bao Wan Veluxe Pearl Fusion Shadow Review & Swatches

MAC,  you need to stop with these limited edition releases. There is a reason why I never used to even peruse the MAC counters because of releases like the MAC Toledo Collection, Cinderella and now Bao Bao Wan. Bao Bao Wan is HUGE in Asia which is why this collection jumped out at me right away because I’m Asian hence the colours MUST work for me, right? The Bao Bao Wan collection has some stunning lipsticks and nail lacquers, but today we’re going to feast our eyes on the Veluxe Pearl Fusion Shadow*($52.50 CDN), that is all shimmer baby! I had fun with this one fo sho!

Last week I shared my love of false lashes with the “well-worth the price” Femme Fatale lashes in Femme Fatales (review). This time I went a little more wild and decided to push my personal colour envelope by doing a mermaid-inspired makeup look to compliment these bejewelled mink falsies!

MAKEUP REVIEW & LOOK | Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura Shupette Collection Swatches and Eye-Need-Shu Trio “Parisienne Chic” (Blue) Makeup Look

I LOVE CATS. I think it’s because it terms of personality I am like a cat. I come to you when I want attention and I like to be on my own or with one or two other cats errr…people whenever I feel like being social. I feel like I’m just as big of a bitch as most cats and I love that as humans, we let these furry, little companions rule our lives and hearts.

As many of you know, I recently lost a big, white furry companion of my own so the holiday release of the Shu Uemura Shupette Collection by Karl Lagerfeld was bittersweet. I was going to include Yoshi in my photos, but the holidays got away from me as did Yoshi…so this look is dedicated to him. The Shupette collection is named after Karl Lagerfeld’s own cat named Choupette and is COMPLETELY cat-themed. Cat lovers rejoice!

EYELASH REVIEW | Femme Fatale Designer Lashes in Femme Fatales

For those of you that have been following my foray into makeup looks, you will know that I recently started incorporating false lashes into my FOTDs. They are still an incredible challenge for me to use, but I just LOVE how transformative they can be. I feel like when I put lashes on, I go from “zero to hero” which no mascara can do. There are varying levels of quality when it comes to lashes with mink being the creme of the crop (so I’ve heard). I have never used or even touched mink lashes until now!

Wet n Wild | “Steal the Look” App with I’m His Breezy and Spoiled Brat Palettes + GIVEAWAY!

Wide-Banner

Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that I could have any makeup look I spotted in a magazine with just the click of a camera and of course technology to figure out the rest! One of my favourite high school makeup brands has made that little fantasy happen in the form of the new Steal the Look app from Wet n Wild. I love the smoky eye so the look I wanted to “steal” was a “Modern Mod” look with a grey smoky eye and nude lips (I think this girl is from the Bachelor Canada).

*New for Fall 2014* Limited Edition Mary Kay Midnight Jewels | Eye Color Palette in Sapphire Noir with Swatches and Manga-esque Makeup Look

I know it’s still August, but here is a Fall makeup post whether you like it or not because Mary Kay has a stunning new Midnight Jewels Collection filled with brand new nail polishes, lipsticks, lip shimmers and two new eye shadow palettes. I will begin with the new Eye Color Palette in Sapphire Noir ($26 CDN) which contains five blendable shades that can take you from day to night. I absolutely adore the colour combination of this palette as I love that the purple has a darker hue to it (hence the sapphire, I guess?).

The only shade that had a little bit of fallout when swatching was the matte grey shade, but other than that all five shades swatched beautifully with tons of pigmentation.

In addition to the visually alluring pret-a-palettes (reviewed here), shu uemura has also released a Crayola-worthy line of Drawing Pencils ($28 CDN) in 21 shades and 4 different textures (matte, pearl, metallic and glitter). With such an array of colours and finishes, we can relive the freedom we felt as children when given a fresh set of crayons. No lines to stay inside of and no need to shy away from colour.

The Body Shop | Color Crush Eye Shadow in #240 Gorgeous Gold with Swatches and Makeup Look

After my last makeup look using The Body Shop’s Color Crush Eye Shadow in Grape Expectations, I was excited to see the colour selection for the summer as I constantly want to look metallic like ALL THE TIME. Today’s makeup look features the shade Gorgeous Gold ($10.00 CDN), a metallic yellowish gold, with the same soft, buttery texture as Grape Expectations and provides great colour payoff. Since I LOVE these shadows so much, I also picked up Brownie & Clyde, which is a shimmery, metallic taupe that pairs off beautifully with Gorgeous Gold.

Essence | LASH Mania Reloaded False Lash Mascara

It’s no secret that being Asian has given me some itty, bitty lashes. I am still not gifted in the false lash application department, so when it comes to a mascara I tend to prefer thicker lashes over length or volume. Essence LASH Mania False Lash Mascara promises to give lashes the “oomph” they need and has one of those flexible, bendy brushes that feels almost weightless in my hand.
