Well, when it comes to this whole #NaBloPoMo thing, I'm not doing all that well and I had a feeling it would go this way. I just can't physically bring myself to blog every single day to the quality that I would want. I have also been distracted with doing house cleanup and then tiring myself out. I think if I did more journal style entries and talked about my personal life then maaaaybe I could do it, but I really don't want to go there because it might look like you've stumbled upon the diary of a teenage girl writing in Live Journal (I can't believe I ever thought that was a good idea).
So, heads up - #LunarJanuary is going to be predominantly sheet masks because 99% of sheet masks are made by Asian brands! Continuing on with luxury Asian brands, I've got a doozy comin' up with Japanese luxe brand Cle de Peau!

Purchased by me
The only thing I really knew CDP for was their concealer, but as I'm not a huge concealer wearer I looked to my first love category of skincare and found these sheet masks last year after trying out one of the CDP facials at Holt Renfrew. I didn't want to go too crazy and spend a ton of money since I couldn't visibly see the ingredients on any of the items and I always feel awkward having this conversation with sales people since they never know what the ingredients mean. I had already picked up a cushion foundation so I decided that the 3 Step Illuminating Concentrate Mask might be a nice way to complement the purchase.
The lotion step lightly exfoliates the skin, the essence step plumps and fills the skin and the treatment sheet mask seals it all in with a soothing mixture of royal jelly and licorice extract. Let's look at the ingredients for steps 1 and 2 because for such a luxurious product, I was really hoping for better, but at the same time so many of these "old school" luxury skincare brands focus more on fragrance, having smooth lotion textures and quick absorption. The plant-based ingredients are usually way at the bottom which is the case here with the exception of licorice extract. The other ingredient that was a bit disappointing to see was petrolatum and NOT because I am against using it on my skin. I use it on my lips a lot because it's really the only thing that seals moisture in. It's because it's a cheap ingredient, but I guess if it does the job then what does it matter? AND, I have a feeling the CDP client isn't really looking at the ingredients list for any of the skincare. While having hydrolyzed pearl and silk is nice, I just wish they were either in higher concentrations OR surrounded by nicer ingredients.

Mask Summary:
Price: $200/Pack of 6
Scent: Floral
Essence Type: Watery
Duration: 10 minutes (for this price it's staying on for 20 min!)
Thickness: Typical fabric/gel
Mask Fit: Not great - lifting around ears and chin despite perforations in chin
Tackiness: None
Hydration: Good
Other notes: The mask is fabric on one side with a very cute pink CDP logo and the underside is a pearlized cooling gel which feels very refreshing on the skin. I really enjoy these types of masks for that reason and the no tacky results! I thought that I had to tear on the chin where there were some perforated lines, but they are actually there for you to FOLD over the chin not CUT. Whoops! Good thing, I have 5 more masks!
Final verdict: Based on the ingredients along with the price, I would not repurchase this mask. If it was under $10, maybe because the experience was relatively enjoyable, the scent was lovely and the mask had a super cute print and wasn't drippy. For almost $35 each and some slight brightening of my skin, I have other options with ingredients I like more!
If you are curious to experience this treatment for yourself, you can find the Cle de Peau Beaute Illuminating Concentrate Mask at all Cle de Peau counters and Holt Renfrew.
