2019 was definitely the year of the sheet mask with many brands surprising me with ones of their own. I made a list of all of the sheet masks that I tried this year (yes, there were a lot!) and these 11 sheet masks were the ones that stood out so let's get started!
Pixi Plump Collagen Boost Youth Infusion Sheet Mask*
2019 was definitely the year of the sheet mask with many brands surprising me with ones of their own. I made a list of all of the sheet masks that I tried this year (yes, there were a lot!) and these 11 sheet masks were the ones that stood out so let's get started!
Pixi Plump Collagen Boost Youth Infusion Sheet Mask*
Though I did enjoy both of the sheet masks that Pixi released at the beginning of 2019, the Plump Collagen Boost Mask left me feeling like I had lifted skin with a more plumped appearance. The plant-based ingredients and presence of peptides was also a huge plus to see in a higher end drugstore sheet mask.
SNP Animal Dragon Soothing Mask*
After trying so many printed masks this year, I can confidently say that SNP has the best ones! Generally, for masks that are printed, the more intense the design, the stiffer the sheet mask making the fit quite poor as less of the sheet is touching the skin. This is the case with almost every printed sheet mask I have used except for the ones from SNP! If you look at this dragon mask, the entire surface is printed, but the fit and material was just a soft as you would expect a NON-printed sheet mask to be. The ingredients are also pretty good! I managed to get these masks for $2.99 at my local London Drugs!
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mask
What got me the most about this mask was the silkiness of the material and the story behind it. I mean, how can you NOT want to use a mask where "the story is that traditionally, Japanese women would brew plant botanicals into a rich elixir that was then soaked into kimino silk to create a sheet mask!" The glow from this mask in combination with Tatcha's Dewy Skin Mist is UNREAL and though it is on the pricier side at $16 per mask, it's totally worth it!
This mask was a newer discovery last year, but I am so glad I did! I bought a pack of 5 from YesStyle after seeing this mask all over Instagram (man, I hate admitting when social media convinces me to buy something!) and ladies and gentlemen, it is worth the hype! The intensity of the red is one thing, the essence is one of the most gooey I have experienced, but the texture of my skin was so smooth upon removal that even my husband noticed! The fit was also pretty fantastic and while you will need a moisturizer afterwards, this mask will make you feel happy from application to well after removal.
Sephora Collection Freezing Mask*
OMG, this mask! This hydrogel mask is a dream for anyone who loves the scent of mint and eucalyptus, but more importantly loves a cool, refreshing skin treat! This mask was so nice to use in our summer heat wave and was surprisingly hydrating!
St. Ives Glowing Apricot Sheet Mask
I was so impressed with this drugstore mask because of the fit and how soft the sheet material felt! The only warning I have about this mask is that the essence is pretty tacky so give yourself lots of time before applying makeup or going to bed, but rest assured that you will not need an ounce of moisturizer after using this mask!
Biotherm Aquasource Aura Water Jelly Sheet Mask*
While I wasn't too impressed with Biotherm's Life Plankton Essence Mask, this one was a whole other story! My skin felt soft and smooth like butter upon removal (without the presence of silicones) and with zero tackiness left on my skin! I also loved that the hydrogel was clear as it made for some fun skintertainment. I have since repurchased this mask for myself and for my mom because I wanted her to enjoy it too!
Bioesque Lumeclat Biocellulose Masks*
I am going to include both the Bioesque masks I tried because both were really good. The only thing which gets me is the price as I found the material pretty similar to the ones from For Beloved One, but this company is based right here in Vancouver which tugs at my heartstrings a little bit. My skin felt and looked fantastic after using both masks with zero tackiness and includes some really cool ingredients like low molecular weight hyaluronic acid as well as a skin-conditioning ingredient that also encourages human cells to produce their own hyaluronic acid!
ORGAID Vitamin C Revitalizing Sheet Mask*
What makes this mask special is the brevity of the ingredients list. It's succinct and to the point and the founder Dr. Bak, who is a chemist by training, really took the time to make sure the the masks were made of truly certifiable organic and effective ingredients with packaging that could also be recyclable. Oh, and your skin will also have a great glow to boot!
Boo Bamboo Hydrating Charcoal Sheet Mask*
This charcoal mask was my favourite out of the four Boo Bamboo charcoal masks as it left my skin both hydrated and brighter than even the Brightening Charcoal Sheet Mask! The fit was fantastic and hydration, though a little on the tacky side, was very good and are a great drugstore option!
7th Heaven Charcoal Detox Bubble Mask*
Bubble masks are so much fun and this one from 7th Heaven was a great little discovery that can be found right at the drugstore. It performs just as well or the same as some of the higher priced bubble masks I have tried and brightened my skin without drying it out!
Well, that's it for sheet masks from 2019 and I am SO looking forward to what's in store for 2020! I've already got some pretty cool ones lined up for this month!
