MAKEUP | Huda Beauty Winter Solstice Mini Lip Strobe Collection

I really do miss lipgloss. Granted, I really didn't think I'd be able to wear ANY makeup once I headed back to work as I was convinced that wearing a face mask would upset my skin too much, but other than some congestion in my chin area, I haven't had any major breakouts. I had my first facial last Sunday and my esthetician noted that the lower half of my face had quite a bit more texture than the upper portion which I definitely blame on the wearing of the face mask. I think I just have to be really good about removing my makeup right away and exfoliating more regularly with both an AHA and BHA. Back to my lips though, I basically ONLY wear tints or matte lipsticks now that I have been back at work for almost a month. I'm glad that I have quite the collection to keep me entertained, but while I was in Quarantine and enjoying the EI life it was glosses I wore most and for a couple of days, I was livin' the iridescent life with these Huda Beauty Lip Strobes!

 Gifted by a friend

These were a four-piece limited edition release for Christmas that my friend had purchased, who felt that I might have fun featuring these on Cosmetic Proof and she was right! She kept her favourite shade and gave me the other three which worked out nicely! What makes these lipglosses unique are how versatile they are in how they can be worn alone or layered on top of your favourite lipstick. The finishes range from prismatic to pearl-like and give off an ethereal vibe. I have even worn these over the Huda Beauty matte liquid lipsticks and they just add another dimension to my lip look.

I forgot to take a photo, but these have a doe foot applicator and smell like a hint of vanilla! As these are the minis, I don't know if the full size Lip Strobes have a bigger wand, but I found the size of this one fairly standard.

L-R: Star-Crossed, Hypnotic and Bewitched

Bewitched Alone

Bewitched is probably the coolest (literally) shade, but is realistically the shade I wore the least. It was just a bit too icy for me to wear comfortably.

Hypnotic Alone

Hypnotic is my FAVOURITE shade and is the most neutral of the trio. I can literally wear it alone and on top of any shade of lipstick.

Star-Crossed Alone

I can imagine wearing this with a great sunkissed glow as it looks like a nude lip. It's a little on the frosty side so I feel like having a tan or faking one with bronzer might make it easier to work with.

Now, for the fun part! I chose a neutral, matte lipstick shade that hopefully gives you an idea of how these lipglosses will look when layered. It's subtle, but all of a sudden the frosty "Star-Crossed" becomes a little warmer!

Final verdict: Oh, I totally love these! They look and good at the start and as the glossiness wears off, the prismatic effect remains so your lips still have a unique colour to them. I am curious about the regular collection as the shades are more opaque and solid in colour. There are some really cool iridescent purples that I would be curious to try, but these will unfortunately be on the backburner since glosses aren't currently a part of my life. Soon though!
