SHEET MASK | MasqueBAR Naturals Collection with Mask Selfies

I try my best not to waste water, food and create too much garbage that is going to sit in a landfill somewhere, but unfortunately liking the world of beauty makes that kind of lifestyle somewhat challenging. So much of the packaging is plastic, resin or materials that are un-recyclable so I do feel a sense of guilt having such a hobby. My love for sheet masks further amplifies this so I am really happy to see a few brands coming out with sheet masks that are biodegradable. Now, what's even better than biodegradable sheet masks? The Masque Bar Naturals Collection has been relaunched with both biodegradable sheet masks AND packaging!

Made with 100% fiber and plant cellulose and a 99% plant-derived essence, these four masks have a water-based barrier in their packaging instead of the conventional aluminum sachets we usually find sheet masks in. Even when I rinsed out the packaging with water, I could feel it getting thinner which was pretty cool!

Green Tea

The Green Tea mask is a refining and energizing mask containing green tea, pineapple, papaya, fig and willow bark extract all in top half of the ingredients list. Obviously this mask is very amusing from a visual standpoint because it is green, but it was quite refreshing to use. There wasn't a huge difference in my skin before and after, but it did feel better and was my favourite mask out of the group!

Mask Fit: Much better than I thought it would be! Very snug around my facial contours.

Rose

You can never go wrong with a good rose mask with this mask containing rose flower water and rose flower extract, safflower extract and rose oil. I actually found this mask to be more on the hydrating side than cleansing.

Scent: Delicate rose scent

Essence Type: Viscous, light brown liquid

Duration: 15-20 minutes

Thickness: Fairly thin

Mask Fit: Same as Green Tea.

Coconut

This mask contains coconut fruit and mushroom extract to hydrate the skin and was a decent little mask for hydration.

Skin concerns: Dryness

Scent: Artificial coconut scent, but fairly mild.

Essence Type: Viscous, clear liquid

Duration: 15-20 minutes

Thickness: Fairly thin

Mask Fit: For some reason, the nose area didn't lie as flat as the other two masks, but still a good fit overall.

Tackiness: Light

Hydration: Good

Banana

Though I am not a huge banana fan (I only eat them because I know they are good for you), banana extract can be brightening and hydrating for the skin. This was my least favourite mask of the group because the mask fit wasn't as nice, but it did alright with hydration and perking up my skin. The banana scent disappears quickly, but I think I can achieve the same results with other products that don't have that scent.

Scent: Banana, but it fades. I hate the scent of banana so it was a good that the scent disappeared quickly!

Essence Type: Viscous, yellow liquid

Duration: 15-20 minutes

Thickness: Fairly thin

Mask Fit: I don't know why this mask was so wrinkly! 

Tackiness: Light

Hydration: Good

Other notes: N/A

Final verdict: While all the masks had fairly similar results, they were still very good biodegradable aspect aside. The Green Tea and Rose masks were my favourite and I would definitely purchase and use them regularly!
