Vancouver is in the middle of a heatwave and I have honestly never encountered temperatures like these in my life here. I mean, we are hitting 40 degrees now and because these temperatures aren't the norm, very few homes have air-conditioning so all I can say is that it has been very uncomfortable the last few days and will continue to be for today and tomorrow. Our place, while normally quite cool as we are shaded by a large tree and face away from the sun, has felt like my own personal oven with no air movement. I feel most badly for our kitties who have been "pancaking it" all over the apartment. We've been changing their water a lot and trying to keep things cool for them. Today's mask is not one I would recommend for hot days like these because the Banobagi Foil Mask will heat up the skin as the foil acts like a little incubator that keeps in moisture in addition to heat.
Most foil sheet masks have a brightening aspect to them and truth be told, the ones I have used have all worked quite well with the key aspect being fit. The ones that come in two pieces fit so much better than the single sheet allowing the mask to tuck into all of the nooks and crannies. This particular Banobagi mask contains an impressive repertoire of brightening ingredients like niacinamide, ascorbic acid, glutathione and lemon juice extract in good concentrations.
I really enjoyed the fit of this mask with the chin and nose fitting reasonably well and never lifting in the time I was wearing it.
Mask Summary:
Price: $4.00 USD
Skin concerns: Brightening
Scent: None
Essence Type: Clear, plump, jelly
Duration: 15-20 minutes (I did more like 30 minutes no problem)
Thickness: Average for foil mask
Mask Fit: Really good for a foil mask! Nothing came lifted and the contours of my face were hugged nicely! Having two pieces for a mask of this material helps a lot!
Tackiness: Medium high and a little bit uncomfortable so I applied Antipodes Probiotic Night Recovery Water Cream because it has a dry touch finish
Hydration: Good and instant brightening upon removal!
Other notes: Lots of essence in the packet!
Final verdict: I very much enjoyed this mask! It is a bit hard to find though so if I could easily repurchase I would! The closest substitute I can think of is one from The Face Shop that does a similar job, but is a one piece sheet not two. I felt like my skin looked brighter right away and was definitely very hydrated.
You can find Banobagi and various e-tailers, but whether the shipping is free or a rip off is all over the place.
