LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Jun. 3rd - Obi-Wan Kenobi, Stranger Things, Wrapping up #SheetMask365, Top Gun and LEGO Fun at Work

ONE

After being sorely disappointed with The Book of Boba Fett, I was really hoping that Obi-Wan Kenobi would be better and so far it is! I am a big Ewan McGregor fan and it is interesting to see how the world  sees Jedis after all the shit that went down in Episode 3!

SHEET MASK | Ultru I'm Sorry For My Skin Jelly Revitalizing Mask

How is it that we are now on the last #SheetMaskSunday of January?! I mean, seriously? Then again, I am truly looking forward to next month for a few reasons, one of which is blog-related and the other because I will be taking a week of staycation! I plan on getting tons of beauty stuff done as well as finally planning the living room! In terms of what I am looking forward to blog-wise, February 1st is Lunar New Year which means that I will be doing #LunarFebruary again! This is when I feature mainly Asian brands and what is amazing is that this year I feel like there are more Asian-owned brands that have cropped up in the last few years that are new to me which I hope to share next month!

SHEET MASK | Jayjun Cosmetic Gold Snow Black Mask

Who wouldn't be curious about a sheet mask that has the words "gold" and "snow" in the name? That and the packaging is definitely what caught my attention when I saw a box of these Jayjun Cosmetic masks at T&T! They were on sale and looked pretty fancy as they were packaged in a nice-looking hard cardboard box that opened like a book and came with an intense looking serum! I mean, it's BLACK! I've always liked Jayjun masks as many of them are multi-steppers and they make SO MANY different ones that I have only just begun to scratch the surface when it comes to what the brand has to offer!

SHEET MASK | Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb Biodegradable Sheet Masks

I have often expressed a certain level of guilt when it comes to using my beloved sheet masks as there is a lot of waste generated by their use so every time I see a biodegradable sheet mask, I do a little jump for joy! When it came to sheet masks at the drugstore, the Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb masks were among the first to grab my attention as they had a solid assortment of masks for various skin concerns, attractive packaging, reasonable pricing and masks that fit well. These masks have now been reformulated so that they can now be disposed of in your home compost as they are now certified biodegradable! LOVE IT!

SHEET MASK | The Creme Shop Hello Kitty Tea Time Sheet Mask

I was a bit of a hoarder when it came to these Hello Kitty sheet masks from The Creme Shop and now the time has come to use them as I have noticed the expiration dates are looming and more importantly, I have observed that The Creme Shop sheet masks seem to dry out more quickly than the other brands I have. Granted, they don't dry out before the expiration dates, but I've never been someone to take expiration dates on sheet masks very seriously as the masks always work and there is always plenty of essence to ensure the fibres remain hydrated. Having noticed this, I have been trying to prioritize these VERY kawaii masks as they have incredibly cute prints!

SHEET MASK | Papa Recipe Bombee Fruitables

As expected, I took a little bit of a hiatus as this past week has been very busy at work for me and I have been coming home feeling rather zombie-like so apologies if the content here is only nails and sheet masks! We also watched a couple of movies this week including Shang Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings and No Time to Die which were entertaining and ones that I had been wanting to see! My goal is to watch 100 movies this year and I am currently at 80 so I think with all the Christmas movies I want to watch next month, I will be able to achieve my goal!

SHEET MASK | Kyojin/Attack on Titan Design Face Packs

I didn't really mean to take a week long break from here, I was taking over some additional responsibilities at work last week that left me napping for an hour or two once I got home from work which meant that I had little energy for not much beyond reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern (oh so good!) and some episodes of Seinfeld which I am so happy are now on Netflix! Jerry Seinfeld must be covered in so much money now that he's allowing the show to be streamed!

It's Halloween today which means that #SheetMaskSunday should be a scary one and a scary one it is with these two sheet masks that have transformed me into the male and female Titans from the Japanese anime series "Attack on Titan". If you haven't watched this, this is one of the best-selling animes of all time and is about a world where humanity has to live within these massive walls in order to protect themselves from gigantic man-eating humanoid looking creatures known as kyojin or Titans. When I first watched the series a few years ago, I found the Titans disturbing to look at as they were grosteque-looking giants with the sinewy bits of muscle showing all with MASSIVE clown grins on their faces. It's the fact that they are always smiling which is super creepy.

SHEET MASK | Holler and Glow Get Lit and Hangover SOS Masks

I am attempting to make life a little more interesting this month by wearing mostly printed masks in honour of Halloween! I have had to take a bit of a break from sheet masks the last week or so as I started getting some weird dry patches on my chin. My skin does not misbehave very often so when it does, I take my skincare back to basics and just use cleanser, toner and a very bland moisturizer. In this case, I stuck to a rosewater toner and Teaology Happy Balm until things cleared up which they finally did yesterday. This means, more printed masks as of tonight!

SHEET MASK | Mad Beauty Disney with Minnie Mouse and Princess Jasmine

Happy Thanksgiving weekend! My work is actually closed on Sunday and Monday which is great since we all get a nice little weekend where we know that nothing is happening at the store and there isn't this sense of FOMO. I have been wanting to try Mad Beauty sheet masks as over the years they have come out with some very cute printed sheet masks with Disney themes. They are not easily available though and the only place online I have seen them is on Amazon.com, but then a few weeks ago, while visiting a friend in Coquitlam we them on a little beauty excursion to Wal-mart! They only had two so just for the sake of trying them, I had to grab 'em!

SHEET MASK | MasqueBAR Naturals Collection with Mask Selfies

I try my best not to waste water, food and create too much garbage that is going to sit in a landfill somewhere, but unfortunately liking the world of beauty makes that kind of lifestyle somewhat challenging. So much of the packaging is plastic, resin or materials that are un-recyclable so I do feel a sense of guilt having such a hobby. My love for sheet masks further amplifies this so I am really happy to see a few brands coming out with sheet masks that are biodegradable. Now, what's even better than biodegradable sheet masks? The Masque Bar Naturals Collection has been relaunched with both biodegradable sheet masks AND packaging!

SHEET MASK | Vichy Mineral 89 Fortifying Recovery Mask

Vichy's Mineral 89 has been one of my favourite products for the last two years and at first I didn't understand the hype or how it could fit into my skincare routine, but after going through a bottle and seeing how easy it was to fit into a routine solely as a serum or a booster, I knew Mineral 89 and I were meant to be friends forever. I will start today's Sheet Mask Sunday post by saying that I should have gotten this Mineral 89 Fortifying Recovery Mask when I first saw it and just given in to my sheet mask desires because it was a limited edition product. This mask combined two skincare loves and performed just like I hoped it would!

SHEET MASK | Glamglow Thirstysheet SOS Intensive Hydrating Cream Sheet Mask

I am back with another sexy sheet mask from Glamglow as I have actually quite liked the other sheet masks I have tried from them in the past like the Glowlace and Coolsheet masks. I will admit that years ago, I did not bother with Glamglow because it seemed too "trendy" and though I don't love everything, I have navigated my way through their products and paid attention to ingredients and formulas of their that seemed interesting with some good results. While I don't think I would invest in a full skincare routine, I think they make some great exfoliators and sheet masks! The latest ThirstySheet Mask is an intensely hydrating cream mask that specifically addresses pesky dry patches and plumps and nourishes skin for up to 24 hours. I was suffering from odd dry patches around my chin where my face mask rubs so I picked this up as a self-care treatment and I am glad I did!

SHEET MASK | 7th Heaven Superfood Sheet Masks in Avocado, Turmeric and Rice Protein

My love of sheet masks does not come with some guilt and that is because there is a ton of individual packaging that comes with a single use product so while I am not the ultimate recycler, I try really hard to compost, recycle and use reusable materials wherever I can. The beauty world is a tough one to be sustainable in and in many ways I have just accepted that my hobby and interest in this area is kind of a wasteful one. There is always going to be a lot of "stuff" in my life so it does feel good to use a product that is more kind to the environment like a biodegradable sheet mask! The 7th Heaven Superfood 24 Hour Hydration Sheet Masks are made of biodegradable bamboo with a vegan and cruelty-free formula and come in five delicious sounding flavours! I have three to share with you today so let's see how they did!
