While I usually feature my monthly empties on Instagram Stories, I thought I would try a blog post just to get my writing juices flowing again! Instead of doing little reviews of each empty like the traditional Empties reviews of yore which took an incredibly long time to do, I will instead write a little blurb on what was notable - good and/or bad!
Some items are press samples
Starting with skincare, I finished four full-sized products with the Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence being my 6th bottle so it will continue to be a skincare staple! The Vichy Mineral 89 Booster is kind of like a serum, but I treat it more like an essence as there aren't necessarily any active ingredients. but it does create a hydrated canvas for layering additional products. The East 29th Vitamin C Serum is one of my all-time favourite serums, so I already have two in my backup stash!
Fragrance! I have been trying to finish things and both the Prada Candy and Fresh Sugar Lychee were two fragrances I purchased ages ago with Prada Candy being one of my first beloved fragrance purchases of 2012! I used it religiously for years and then moved on to less sweet scents, but picked it up again as a "bed time scent". Both bottles were so close to being finished that I decided in January to commit to using them and in just a few weeks both were done! Out of the two, I would re-purchase Sugar Lychee specifically for summer, but realistically this probably won't happen for years as I have many MANY fragrances to use!
I received probably 20 bottles of CND Vinylux Top Coat at the height of my beauty blogging fame and truthfully, it IS a good top coat! I'm on my last bottle now so I will miss it, but I do have other top coats that are fairly good too so I won't be rushing out to replenish this anytime soon. This TOYFACTORY Superset Hyaluronic Acid Setting Spray was a surprise favourite! It smelled like toasted marshmallows and had the nicest spray! I also felt like my makeup lasted longer during a work day when I had this on so if my the end of the year I have gone through a few more setting sprays, I might order this in the bigger size!

I have just reviewed the Pantene Rescue Shots so I won't blather on too much about them only to say that one of these lasted me 11 uses! I was also happy to have used up this Hair Tesoro Quick Dry Hair Mist as the Cherry Blossom scent was so overpowering and I have been using this little 100mL bottle for years 2x/week and it finally finished up a week ago! I also felt like it stung my scalp a little so I was glad to see this one go!
I went through a bit of a bath bomb craze during the pandemic since all of us were trying to find hobbies at home and take advantage of the amount of self-care we now had time to do! I picked up so many bath bombs from a bunch of Canadian sellers that now that I don't really take baths anymore, it's hard to find ways to use them so I have been using them as shower steamers! Over the last two months, I finished some mini bath bombs from Jojo's Bath Bombs and Sweet Soaperie that were pleasant, but the era of bath bombs is over for me and sadly, I don't think either of these stores is still in business.
I only used 13 sheet masks over the last two months which is INCREDIBLY low for me as someone who traditionally uses 3-5 masks/week, but I have definitely not been feeling like doing it especially if it's past 10:30pm. I still love my MaskerAide sheet masks as my ultimate favourite sheet masks, but another standout would be the SNP Bird's Nest sheet mask as it fit well and wasn't too tacky.
And finally, the samples! I really try to go through my samples and every so often I discover something I like and this time around it was the L'Occitane Body Balm! I thought it would be too thick, but it dries down so beautifully and my legs felt so smooth so I will pick up the full size the next time they have their 20% off event! I also really enjoyed this little sample of scalp oil from Rene Furterer which was minty and refreshing. It's too bad this brand is hard to find here in Canada, but in France it was right there!
Now, onto March to see how I do with using up my products!
