MAKEUP | Happy Halloween with Cruella de Vil

As I mentioned on Monday, the last week has been very crazy and as it turned out, the rest of this week has been busy as well! Not quite as socially straining as last week, but I feel like I have been pulled in a few different directions with the end result being that my work desk is filled with half completed things and that replies to emails are definitely more delayed. I have often said that a source of pride for me are my follow-up skills, but when there is too much work on my plate, I start to forget. What I would like is two days off in a row which I am only getting next week so I need to survive just a bit more, not get sick and then be ready for the holiday season!

Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year when it comes to beauty, nail art and seasonal decor. I love Halloween-themed snacks, some movies (mainly the ones in cartoon form or by Disney), but oddly enough, dressing up in costume is probably my least favourite thing to do. Face makeup yes, but outside of that I actually get a bit stressed about the logistics of putting a costume together!

Back in the summer, a super cool client of mine invited my husband and I to her annual Halloween party so I started trying to find costumes that matched. The theme was "Villains" so even though I stayed on theme with Cruella de Vil, my husband did not and decided to go as a "Villainous Cucumber" aka a pickle. He is really not a fan of dressing up, so if him coming with me meant he went as a pickle, then so be it!

It has been YEARS since I have done any form of Halloween makeup (I was last the Bride of Frankenstein) so I definitely needed some guidance when it came to Cruella's makeup. I was deciding between the more cartoon version with crazy green eyeshadow and overly arched eyebrows and Emma Stone's version. I ultimately went with the latter for the sake of ease and used this makeup tutorial by Shonagh Scott who does a lot of easy to follow Halloween makeup. Granted, this look still took me 1.5h to do because I was SO rusty and in the photo above, I honestly was not sure if it was going to turn out! A partial cut crease is utterly terrifying to me, but it ended up turning out quite lovely!

Face:
Dior Skin Perfect Face Stick and Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation
Shade:
1.5N (Note: this is one shade lighter than my usual) and 1.4 Bone

Blush:
Dior Forever Blush Soft Filter
Shade: Orchid

Eyebrows:
Shu Uemura 16 Shades of Nude*
Shade: Dark Brown

Eyes:
Apply primer all over the lid and under eyes.

Using a fluffy pointed eyeshadow brush, apply the matte black shade "Black" from the Shu Uemura palette under the brow bone and to the bridge of the nose. On the lid, apply a matte white shadow like Sugarpill Tako. Go back with the matte black shadow and start making a little triangle at the corner of the eye and connect to black shadow at the brow bone.

Line lower waterline with a black smudgeable liner. I used Sephora Collection 24H Liner in Black to tightline as well. Line lower lashline with matte black shadow.

Apply false lashes. I am using Falscara Bling Lashes as I wanted some extra sparkle since it is a party after all!

Lips:
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Liquid Matte Lipstick in 401*

Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween!
