MAKEUP | Physician's Formula Butter Highlighters, Bronzers and Blush

I know I'm getting to this a little late, but better late than never, right? The CBB brand of the month is Physician's Formula and though I had SO MUCH planned for this while I was on vacation, time got the better of me once I started my cleaning of the Beauty Vault so I chose my favourite PF face products for now and then I will have one more on their lip products next month!

When I first started blogging, PF was one of the most talked about drugstore brands for price and quality of everything from eye to face products and was one of the few reliable drugstore brands that had mineral and hypoallergenic options. When I found their Ultra Fine Liquid Eyeliner in Blackest Black, I used up two of them within a year which is says a lot! Then I moved on to their face products like their blushes and highlighters which continued to impress me. I sort of lost touch with PF once blogging took off and I got exposed to higher end brands, but their deliciously scented Murumuru Butter Bronzers brought me back!

Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer Review

Coming in 8 shades, I first bought the shade Deep Bronzer, with its shimmery finish, on my own last summer as I figured I could fake a little tan with it. The London Drugs beauty team was then nice enough to send over a box of things from PF to try which also included the Light Bronzer, a lighter and in actuality more matte in finish. The texture was just as smooth as I had hoped and though I don't use bronzer much, I found that even with the shade Deep Bronzer, it was hard to mess up and go too harsh so I like that these are pretty much foolproof!

Up until the Happy Booster Blush, I had not tried any other blushes from PF until the Butter Blush. While I still think I prefer the Happy Booster, the Butter Blush is still one that I have enjoyed using as the shade I have (Vintage Rouge) is an easy dusty pink that would work on most skin tones. I like blushes with a bit of shimmer in them, so I tend to wear more highlighter when I am wearing this blush.

The blush also came with a color coordinated brush which I don't think I will ever use unless I'm in a total bind, but I can always appreciate when a product has some bonus features!

Now, my favourites! The Butter Highlighters! These are a cream to powder formula coming in 7 shades depending on your skin tone. I have been doing my best to keep the embossing intact, but a little bit of this highlighter goes a long way so I have to be careful! This is NOT one of those foolproof highlighters you can just go crazy with, but the shimmer is REAL and the texture is super soft.

I am also wearing the PF Healthy Foundation in MN4 which has also been quite nice and will be something I review later!

Physician's Formula Review

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the whole PF "Butter Division" and would look into trying more blush shades. I found the highlighters looked pretty similar from afar even though they looked so different up close, but I find that I don't have a great eye for spotting differences in highlighter shades. In person, I felt the pearl was too frosty on me, so I might donate it, but I loved the pink and the champagne for sure! Ooh, and they also worked well as an inner corner highlight! I still think Physician's Formula is one of the more solid drugstore brands that often has decent pricing for value so definitely look into the Murumuru Butter Collection if you love fun packaging, a scent that reminds you of summer and textures that rival what's in your Sephora cart!

You can find Physician's Formula at mass drugstores across Canada.
