SKINCARE | Palmer’s Skin Therapy and Cleansing Oil + GIVEAWAY (Canada Only)

It has been a long time since I last talked about Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula products, but there is something about that distinctively soothing cocoa butter scent that gets me excited to use/smell/slather myself in anything Palmer’s. Most well-known for their body products, especially the ones that aid in stretch mark removal, Palmer’s has introduced a new face product that I’m sure all of you skincare junkies will absolutely have to have! You may even get a chance to try it for yourselves if you read right to the end!

SKINCARE REVIEW | The Perfect Tan Without the Damage with Paula’s Choice Skincare!

Please note that the following is a sponsored post for Pretty in my Pocket. All opinions are my own.

I was a skincare junkie before, but now that I have worked in the industry for over a year (I use past tense as this will no longer be the case in a few weeks) the addiction has intensified and I have learned so much about the skincare industry, ingredients and obviously what’s great and what’s not. I have been following the infamous “Cosmetics Cop”, Paula Begoun, for a few years and have been wanting to try Paula’s Choice products for awhile considering her stance on effective ingredients in skincare products. The Beautypedia is a reference of sorts for me and I am always curious to see what she and her crew think. Sometimes I agree and sometimes not, but either way I am grateful to have someone like Paula around who can reference medical journals for her reasoning and basically take the BS out of skincare marketing jargon for the average consumer.

Since it’s the first day of summer today, I have been wanting to be tan ready since February, but I am opposed to tanning beds and long-term sun exposure as I think most of us are nowadays with the higher incidence of skin cancer. In addition to skincare for every possible skin type and concern, Paula’s Choice also offers a self-tanning regime without the damage and is one that can be easily integrated into your existing skincare routine. After a consultation with a Paula’s Choice skincare expert, I received a regime of products best-suited to my skin type (normal, dehydrated, no sensitivities) as well as a new found love for glycolic acid peels!

SKINCARE REVIEW | Cleanser Wednesdays with Garnier Clean+ For Sensitive Skin Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser

I don’t think I have EVER been able to get all of my eye makeup off in one fell swoop and it’s ALWAYS the mascara. I have my showers at night so I always do the best I can before my shower and then only when I emerge do I know how good of a job I’ve done. My eyes aren’t extremely sensitive, but one thing I hate about waterproof eye makeup is needing to use an oil-based eye makeup remover. I almost always get some in my eye and then I’m left with an irritating oily film on my eyeballs that only my tears can eliminate. For those of us who would prefer NOT to cry out makeup remover from our eyes or have more sensitive eyes, Garnier Clean+ Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser* might be our saviour!

Formulated with moringa flower extract to calm skin and made without alcohol, dyes or fragrance, this makeup remover has “quick-break” technology to quickly and easily dissolve even the most ridiculously waterproof of eye makeup.

SKINCARE | Amie New Bloom Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes

Already when it comes to packaging, I’m sold on the newest addition to the Amie skincare line - NEW BLOOM Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes*. It’s pink and flowery and it is at this point that I want to tear into that moisture locking seal. I use facial wipes quite often, going through a pack each month, so I’d like to think that I’m facial wipe savvy. For those of you new to Amie, they are a UK-based brand just making its entrance into Canada exclusively through select Shoppers Drug Mart stores. They pride themselves on being affordable while using skin-friendly natural extracts.

Amie Skincare | Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash

I am back with the current blogger favourite drugstore brand of the season – Amie Skincare! I feel like I’m talking about skincare A LOT, but it is truly a topic that I love and even though it can be daunting and filled with many “spiels” I do my best to navigate and hopefully share some useful tidbits with you all. After reviewing the Radiant Dawn Exfoliating Wash (review here), I had voiced that it was a little bit too rough for my skin for daily use. The Morning Clear Purifying Facial Wash ($12 CDN) has been a MUCH better option for me and my skin thanks to the lack of exfoliating bits. It’s also pink which is a girly plus.

Review | Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush

Ever since the Clarisonic appeared on the beauty market, there have been a number of brush cleansing systems that have emerged claiming to do the same thing, but at a much more affordable price point. With the Clarisonic Mia starting at $150 CDN, it is a bit of an investment especially if you don’t know how it will work on your skin. If you currently do not own a brush cleansing system or exfoliate regularly, the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush ($95 CDN) is actually a wonderful starting point for ALL skin types and a great tool to get you in he habit. Having used both systems now, I can confidently say which one I prefer, but let’s break it down shall we?
