Bonjour mes amies! Newly launched in select Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Canada, award-winning British skincare line Amie (meaning “friend”) has blown me away with their product quality and at an amazing price. Created by Fiona Parkhouse, Amie is a healthy, and what I would consider to be a, “clean” natural (up to 95%) skincare line made with plant and botanical extracts. This means that all Amie products are free from parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, petrochemicals and is even suitable for vegetarians and vegans! On top of all this goodness, none of the products exceed $12! Crazy, right?!
The Radiant Dawn Exfoliating Daily Wash ($10 CDN) is a gel exfoliating face wash with natural blueberry seeds to help unblock pores and get rid of dead skin cells. Green apple and lemon refine and tone skin and keep oiliness at bay (it also makes this face wash smell really good!). Although this is a daily face wash, I actually found the scrubby bits quite rough so although there aren’t very many of them I was more comfortable using this face wash every OTHER day. Did it leave my skin feeling healthy and clean after use? You bet. My pores felt “sealed” and my skin prepped for toner.
The Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturiser ($12 CDN) is all about controlling oiliness and shine, while still hydrating and softening the skin with plant sugars, rosehip and bilberry. This was not my favourite moisturizer as I found my skin to be extra oily when using this. My skin certainly felt soft and hydrated, but after just a few hours of even just being at home, my forehead was especially shiny which was strange considering this is a “matte finish” moisturizer.
The Morning Light Hydrating Daily Moisturiser ($12 CDN) was my favourite of the two moisturizers I tried mainly because it didn’t leave an oily sheen to my skin. This moisturizer is rich in rose extract, rosehip oil and mallow to keep skin soft (like a marshmallow!) and while the word “light” in the product name had me thinking it wouldn’t be enough for my dry skin, it was actually just right for my moisture needs.
The Spring Clean Deep Cleansing Mask ($12 CDN) has got to be one my FAVOURITE masks ever! I don’t say that lightly because I’ve tried alotta masks. This is a kaolin clay mask so it’s very deep cleansing and extremely purifying. It doesn’t dry to a rock hard finish so it’s not as uncomfortable as other clay masks. Peppermint and lime purify and make your skin feel cool and slightly tingly which I know not everyone loves, but I do! The scent is also incredibly invigorating and has cleared up a headache or two for me. My skin feels so fresh and clean after removal that I never want to wear makeup afterwards. I don’t want to mess with the canvas I’ve created!
Final Verdict: After using Amie for 4 weeks, all I can say is that this is affordable skincare that has nothing but good, clean ingredients in it. For the price, there is at least 100mL of product making this entire line accessible to ANYONE. I also noticed that the products were colour-coded – pink tube = pink coloured moisturizer which is kind of cute. I have really enjoyed using the Amie skincare line and although this skincare line doesn’t specifically target anti-aging, I see no reason why you couldn’t use Amie in the morning and anti-aging at night (like me!).
The folks from Amie have been kind enough to let one lucky reader try all four of these products and what better time to try some new skincare as we head into the colder season!
This giveaway is open to Canadians (sorry international readers!) and ends on Oct.13th! Good luck!a Rafflecopter giveaway
