Review–Get the Lips of THE Material Girl with Make Up Forever Aqua Rouge #8!

Make Up For Ever now has another weapon against the elements to add to its Aqua range arsenal – Aqua Rouge Liquid Lip Color! This is a new collection of smudge-proof, high intensity lip colour that promises the long-lasting quality of a lip stain with the shine of a gloss.

Available in 12 shades from soft beiges to bold berries, Aqua Rouge provides 100% waterproof, kiss-proof color that will not transfer. A combination of high molecular weight polymers and oils lock color on the lips and provide full coverage. The formula also boasts mica for intense color payoff and a gelling agent for comfortable and effortless wear.

One special shade of Aqua Rouge deserves a little bit of a spotlight as Make Up For Ever has teamed up with celebrity makeup artist Gina Brooke to create a custom shade for Madonna’s MDNA tour. This shade is Aqua Rouge #8 in Red which is a classic bright and bold red. Madonna is actually going to be wearing this on stage while performing and to me if she approves of something, it’s got to be good! She seems like that type of person, don’t you think?

Aqua Rouge has a double-ended applicator where one side is the high-pigmented colour and the other is a clear topcoat which is applied once the colour has dried. This clear topcoat gives your lips the glossiest finish!

Packaging: Sleek as always. I love the gradient effect on the clear topcoat side.

Scent: Fresh and floral-like. I can’t put my finger on it, but it reminds me a little of how makeup wipes smell.

Formula: Absolutely fantastic! We’ve all heard of kiss-proof lip products before, but time and time again we are continually let down, so I was floored  when I tried this out! Firstly, the colour is highly pigmented, very creamy and soft. It’s similar in texture to the NYX Soft Lip Creams. Once the colour is dry to the touch, apply the clear gloss to seal the colour in with a shiny finish! When I tried to rub the gloss off, it honestly would not budge! I rubbed so firmly that I really thought the gloss would at least lose its shine, but it stayed shiny and wet-looking! Then I started kissing things! Fiancé, cats, my hands and it was brilliant! It totally held up! There was such minimal colour transfer that my lip colour looked like it had never been touched at all! The only way I was able to fully remove this lip colour was with an oil-based makeup remover.

Final Verdict: I loved this so much that I am ordering another more everyday colour from Sephora! I was so impressed with the almost industrial-wear of Aqua Rouge that I knew I had to have more in my collection!

The entire Aqua Rouge lip colour line is found exclusively at Sephora or at Make Up For Ever for $27.00 CDN.

    1. I'd like #10, #2 and possibly #1! I think I'll start with #10 though since I have a lot of nude lip colours already.

  6. Next test: McDonald's Quarter Pounder and fries...

This sounds like the Revlon Colourstay liquid lipsticks. (I think it was Revlon. There's another brand too.)
