The Fall 2012 Loose Button Luxe Box Has Arrived!

After deciding to make a sudden change to their beauty box subscription service back in May, the time has finally arrived for the very first of the now quarterly Luxe Boxes. The Loose Button website has also changed so that we each now have a “Personal Product Dashboard” showcasing the products we have received in our Luxe Boxes and tips on how best to use them. I am really impressed with the user interface and how elegant it feels to use.

The box is now fairly large and rectangular allowing for larger/more products and has the Loose Button logo emblazoned in gold on the top of the lid. The build of the box is quite similar in thickness to the Glossybox. The first thing I noticed was just how “luxe'” the unboxing felt!

A product card inside an envelope with a monogramed “J”. I honestly think that Loose Button has always had one of the best symbols out there.

Instead of black crinkly paper, we are instead greeted with a white fluid fabric which I thought was a very nice touch! It’s not recyclable like the paper, but I think I will hang to these for wrapping.

Vichy ProEven Daily Dark Spot Corrector

DSCF4267

VICHY introduces the exclusive melanin targeting DeeperCell-ConcentrateTM, combined with LHA, Vitamin Cg and Vitamin E. It acts on all surface layers of the skin and reduces the look of excess melanin. Even out your skin tone, wipe out those dark spots and reveal your flawless radiance.

Thoughts: As much as I hate the little packets, I’m happy that LB included five of these guys. I think there is enough for two applications in each packet, so I have about a week and half’s worth of product. These also came in a little brown envelope which I thought was a great touch. As for the product itself, I don’t really have any dark spots, but I sure would like to reveal my “flawless radiance”!

Full size: 30mL/$44.00

I received: 7.5mL/$11.00

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

DSCF4269

A precise, accentuating liquid eyeliner that will help you create the look you want without smudges.

Thoughts: So excited to finally get a chance to try this!! I’ve been stalking the Eyeko site for almost two years now and I was totally not expecting this to be in any of the beauty boxes I subscribed to so I am very happy!

Full size: 0.2g/$18.00

I received: *FULL SIZE*

Benefit Stay Don’t Stray

DSCF4270

A dual-action primer that works 360 degrees around your eyes to help your concealer and eye shadow stay all day.

Thoughts: Whenever I see a Benefit product, I always get excited because there hasn’t been a product from this company that I don’t love. I have not tried this primer before and I will use it alongside Porefessional to see how the two compare.

Full size: 10mL/$30.00

I received: 2.5mL/$7.50

Madonna Truth or Dare Eau de Parfum

DSCF4271

Truth or Dare by Madonna is a contemporary and sexy reinvention of a classic, robust signature white floral. This scent is timeless yet modern, simultaneously dark and light. With a blend of narcotic florals, woods, vanilla, and caramelized amber. This scent stands out from traditional floral fragrance with a contemporary edge.

Thoughts: The size of this sample is great and is what I would consider a deluxe sample size. The scent is strong, but I don’t hate it. It would just be a scent that I use very sparingly, only in cold weather and probably not when I have a headache.

Full size: 75mL/$75.00 (comes in smaller sizes)

I received: 3mL/$3.00

China Glaze Nail Lacquer in Elephant Walk

DSCF4273

Step into the Fall season with China Glaze’s newest “On Safari” collection.

Thoughts: With my 320 odd bottles of nail polish, I actually don’t have any colour from “On Safari” so this was perfect! I definitely have grey nail polishes, but “Elephant Walk” is a bit different than what I have in my current collection (I think??). It’s a pretty Fall colour though and I am a China Glaze junkie so I am quite pleased with this product.

Full size: $6.95/14mL (At Chatters)

I received: *FULL SIZE*

KMS Add Volume Volumizing Spray

DSCF4274

Spray this weightless conditioner to your damp hair to add up to 70% fullness and volume.

Thoughts: I have been looking for a product just like this one!

Full size: 200mL/$18.00

I received: 30mL/$2.70

Loose Button Exfoliating Pad

DSCF4272

Thoughts: Meh. It feels a little cheap…

Total Value of Fall Luxe Box: $49.15

Not bad at all LB, not bad at all! Is it worth $26/quarter though? I am still undecided, but I have one more Winter box left with my remaining $30 credit so I guess I will wait until the new year to decide. I have seen quite a bit of variety with these Fall boxes so I just hope that there isn’t quite as much of a discrepancy between Luxe Boxes in terms of value. All in all I really loved the whole experience of unboxing and felt like I was “reliving the magic” of beauty bob subscriptions again so for that I am grateful and I look forward to the November Luxe Box!

    1. The boxes really were quite different which I suppose is the fun of it all. Ooh, I have never tried their mascara! One more thing to add to the "lust list"!

  2. So much variation from one box to another and I LIKE it! I love the fact that if I look at other people's unboxing it doesn't spoil your excitement because you could potentially get many different items:) I still didn't get my box but I looked online anyway haha, the anticipation was slowly getting to me. Honestly you can get so much use out of the samples, I actually got three from a Shoppers associate and was able to use one packet 3-4 times (Morning, Night and then Morning Night again depending on how much I used). I really liked the cream, in fact I was close to getting it but I had to hold off as it's kinda pricey ($44). I was hoping to get more of the samples in my luxe but that's okay.. I'll hopefully be getting mine Monday so be sure to check out my unboxing:D

    1. I will definitely be checking in to see what you received! Good to know that the Vichy cream works though and that the samples were enough to last quite awhile!

    1. I'm glad they included a nail polish from a new collection too. I am pretty excited for the Winter Box as well. I hope it doesn't disappoint!

  5. Nice box ! :) I too am wondering if it's worth 26$... We've had other boxes, like Glossy for ex., reaching the same value but for almost twice as less in terms of price. And the Divalicious, for the same price, has tons of products ! I also have credit to spend and am taking that time to think about it.

    1. The Divalicious Box is amazing! I can't wait until the Fall one is released! It's true, we pay much less for the other boxes and get very similar values...that's sort of where my dilemma is, but like you said, the Winter Box will be the deciding factor for me.

The packaging was definitely a huge selling feature of this box and it was nice that I was able to get a bit of every type of product. I just think it might be a bit expensive...

  12. I like the new box but I think they should've made the box really stand out compared to Topbox and GlossyBox. I feel like its so similar that it's not worth the higher price for the quarterly service. I'm curious to see the winter box but I'm glad that I didn't change over because I would've been disappointed. They kept sending me emails like I had made a mistake in cancelling my subscription and kept offering to set things up again. I also had to cancel twice (or at least they sent me an email implying that they hadn't received my cancellation request), so Luxebox kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.

    1. I agree that for the price, this new Luxe Box did not stand out against some of the other boxes that consistently put out solid products. If I didn't know about the other boxes, then yes Luxe Box has definitely stepped up their game, but because we all have a frame of reference it is a little bit disappointing in that regard.

  13. I didn't get as good a box. I think I actually received one of the worst boxes. I'll work on my post today, so come back and see what I received.
