MAKEUP LOOK "Emerald Blossom" | Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows 3 Palette Florals Review with Swatches

Ever since MAKE UP FOR EVER came out with their illustrious collection of Artist Shadows, I have had a hard time controlling myself when it comes to collecting all of the shades. I have my basic browns, but I definitely have a thing for the more adventurous shades even though I never wear them on a daily basis (I have no idea why and really should). Though it's always nice to have a full size, I know that I would never hit pan on a shimmery teal or royal blue like I would a metallic brown so whenever MUFE comes out with Artist Shadow Palettes in those coveted crazy colours I get very excited. The Artist Palette Volume 3 ($52.00 CDN)is floral-themed with a few neutrals, but is predominantly filled with more vibrant shades that I may not have purchased as full-sized shadows.

The palette is just like its two predecessors in size in that it is about the size of my palm, housed in cardboard and closes magnetically.

The palette also comes with a handy dandy instruction booklet on looks to create which helped me greatly as I followed the instructions to a tee on how to use the teal shades. The shades are grouped in vertical trios so when I looked at them all that way, the shades looked much more cohesive.

Pigmentation was best on the darker shades and actually quite decent even on the more pastel shades which was nice to see. I always expect pastels to be a bit of let down so having solid swatch "swipes" was incredibly satisfying.

I think I need a better brush for my crease just because I couldn't get the two sides to "connect" despite lots of eyeshadow and brushing back and forth. I don't know how some of you manage to have such beautiful eye looks! I definitely still struggle with having things look good on the eyelids when my eyes are closed if there is more than one color.

Apply Step 1 Skin Equalizer on eyelids.
Apply ME-230* to the inner and outer thirds of the eyelid leaving the center bare. Bring colour down along lower lash line also leaving the center bare.
Apply D-236* on top of existing colour and connect to form "halo" shape in crease.
Apply S-404* in the middle of eyelid and lower lash line. I had to use my finger to really pack on the colour as yellow shades have a hard time showing up on me.

Apply MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Stretch Mascara*.
Apply MAKE UP FOR EVER Lash Show Natural Impact Lashes in N-304* (I LOVE THESE)

Cheeks:

MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Plexi-Gloss in #206 (review)

Final verdict: I think this palette is so much fun and pricing is reasonable (9 shadows x 1.4g) considering this is a $156 value. Each shadow is quite pretty and though I won't be wearing "Emerald Blossom" every day, I like having just a touch of these shades in my collection for when I do.
