HAIR | Introducing Kristin Ess! New and Exclusive to Well.ca in Canada!

I am so happy - for my HAIR. I had never heard of hairstylist Kristin Ess until I heard about her products coming to Well.ca and the packaging alone roped me in. Then there is the price. These products look like they should cost way more than they do, but I haven't seen a single product cost more than $18 which is the idea behind Kristin Ess products - affordable luxury haircare and styling products so that anyone can have beautifully effortless hair!

I received a couple of Kristin's bestselling products to try for my hair type and couldn't wait to dive right in! All Kristin Ess products contain a proprietary strengthening complex called "Zip-Up Technology" which  "zips up" split ends, smoothing the appearance of damaged cuticles and protecting hair from environmental stressors and colour fade (YES PLEASE!).

The first two products I whipped out were The One Signature Shampoo and Conditioner* ($12.97 CDN each). This is the most popular duo though there is a Purple duo to control brassiness (I placed an order when they came back in stock and they are now at the post office!) as well as an Extra Gentle set for sensitive scalps.

The shampoo is sulfate-free, is for all hair types and is lightly clarifying while providing a fairly satisfying lather. My hair is now super sensitive to clarifying shampoos so I know right away after blow-drying whether a shampoo is too drying and I am happy to report that that is NOT the case with this one!

The conditioner was surprisingly effective on my easily tangled hair and left it feeling soft and plump after my shower. It did not leave any buildup nor strip my colour. If anything, when I curled my hair the next morning, it looked less brassy and more ashy which is much closer to what my original hair colour looks like. The scent of both the shampoo and conditioner were quite pleasant reminding me a little of cucumbers. My husband would also like to add that he liked the squeeziness of the bottles as they are made with a softer plastic.

Next up, the styling products! Though not everything in here are items that go with my hair lifestyle, I can definitely them working for other hair types and styles. Starting with the Air Dry Salt Spray* ($12.97 CDN), this is probably the ONLY salt spray I will own after having so many others and giving them away because it is texturizing without leaving my hair feeling crunchy. Most salt sprays give hair the LOOK of volume and looseness, but if you were to touch it, it feels like witch hair! This spray is a continuous micromist of product that goes on wet/damp hair and leaves my very dry hair feeling soft especially when I curl it.

The Dry Finish Working Texture Spray* ($17.97 CDN) did not quite work for me in the way that I personally use texture products. I use texture at my roots for volume but when I used this spray for that purpose, I got the texture without the volume and my hair just felt extra "dirty". I think this would work better on shorter, thicker hair as mine is long and thinner.

The Hair Style Reviving Dry Shampoo* ($17.97 CDN) was nice as well for days I don't wash my hair, but it isn't going to replace my COLAB Extreme Volume Dry Shampoo. The scent of this dry shampoo is nice though as it also smells refreshing like cucumbers and does a great job of getting rid of that "hair smell" if you know what I mean.

This Weightless Shine Leave-In Conditioner* ($12.97 CDN) is now one of my favourite products because as much as I love my Noughty Leave-In Conditioner, sometimes you don't want your hands to get all mucky so a spray is nice and this one is a great one for even the most tangly, dry hair ever! What I do when I come out of the shower is squeeze out any excess water from my hair, spritz this spray 10x all over my hair and then wrap it up in my Aquis towel to let the conditioner really soak in. Then, I blow dry and it's easy styling from there!

Final verdict: Well, I currently have the purple shampoo and conditioner as well as a The One Signature Hair Water waiting for me at the post office so even though these products were sent to me, I went out and HAD to purchase more! I was quite impressed with the line in general and like I said, the two products that didn't quite work for me were not because of the product itself, but just how I personally choose to style my hair. I am incredibly I was introduced to Kristin Ess because I think the products are great with a price tag that is totally affordable. If anything, these products performed just like a number of products I have in the luxury price range!
