SKINCARE | The Face Shop Goodbye Smile Fold Modeling Gel Patch

I have been having the most BRUTAL time the last two weeks trying to blog. I don't often struggle with it because I have always said that writing is an escape and a joy, but I have been physically and mentally drained with work and mandatory afterwork activities in the last week. I have had a few press events in the middle that have been a pure joy to attend, but even the long weekend felt a bit stressful because I just wanted to sit and veg out. The vegging led to less blogging than usual and a larger than normal backlog which then stressed me out. I haven't even done my nails for over a week which is a HUGE deal for me!

Seeing as how I like to amuse myself with all types of face masks, I thought I would try to have a bit of fun throughout this tiring week with a hydrogel mask from The Face Shop. Although I haven't been smiling all that much this week, I do smile other times which has led to some slight lines around my mouth now that I am older. I picked up the Goodbye Smile Fold Modeling Gel Patch not because I thought it would the cure but because it looked rather amusing!

I found the instructions for this mask equally amusing as the ideal facial expression for application is an "O". I mean, it makes sense, but I had to laugh which probably didn't help my cause for smile lines.

The patches themselves are made of hydrogel and are soaking in an essence containing pomegranate extract to help in reducing smiles lines. Honestly, I didn't think too much of the ingredients as I knew that the effects would be temporary, but after 20 minutes of having these patches on, I had to remove them because they didn't feel that hydrating anymore. You know when you leave mask on too long and it feels like it's actually sucking in moisture from your skin? That's kind of how it felt and I feel like it is because these patches have less surface area than a full face mask hence the quicker dryout time. You can leave these on for up to a whopping 40 minutes which is kind of insane!

Final verdict: The smile lines definitely looked diminished and it actually was quite hard to smile with the patches on. They were very amusing and I am sure if you used one every day the effects would last longer, but I feel a good hydrating serum, like one with multi-molecular weight hyaluronic acid, would also do the job and on a much more long-lasting scale.
