HAIR | Masking with Marc Anthony

Not only are sheet masks important to me, but hair masks are something I cannot live without! I use a hair mask twice a week and there are dire consequences if I don't! My hair just looks and feels so lackluster that I don't take the risk anymore. While I generally focus on hydration masks, I have been getting more and more into masks that also focus on volume and cleansing the scalp without drying out the rest of my hair (Christophe Robin mask I am talking to YOU!). While I do enjoy salon level hair care products, I have had some great luck with higher end drugstore brands one of which is a long time love of mine - Marc Anthony

It all started with the Oil of Morocco Argan Oil collection six years ago and though I have had to switch my hair care routine around to service my on and off blonde hair, masks are a constant for me and Marc Anthony has got a ton of them! These first two are brand new and were the first ones I dove into and the ones I adore most from easy squeeze packaging to results!

Instant Miracle Mask Volumizing Clay Hair Mask*

Marc Anthony Hair Mask Review

I was most scared to try this mask because I was terrified that the rest of my hair would be too dry to curl and would look like straw. This mask contains Moroccan lava, bentonite and kaolin clay to detox, refresh and absorb oil. Oddly enough, this mask has turned out to be one of my favourite ways to get volume that lasts throughout my days of not washing my hair! Yes, it clarifies, but it seems to give my hair a bit of extra "grip". Almost like putting in styling product when you are towel-drying your hair so it feels clean when you are rinsing it out, but when I start to blow dry, I can feel a bit of texture at my roots and when my hair is dry, there is visible lift that stays for DAYS. On Day 2 of no washing, I don't even need to use dry shampoo for volume! On Day 3, I need to use some dry shampoo, but not as much as I normally would. I should add that I never use this mask alone. As I only use this on the top half of my hair, the bottom half is always given a treatment of the Damage Repair or Repairing Anti-Breakage Mask.

Instant Miracle Mask Damage Repair Hair Mask*
Marc Anthony Hair Mask Review

Firstly, this mask smells good enough to eat! While Marc Anthony products do tend to have a strong scent to them, I never really mind and this particular mask smells like candy! My favourite hair mask combination is this plus the clay hair mask. I find my hair tends to be the most voluminous with this combination. This repairing mask contains shea butter, grapeseed and avocado oil, wheat protein and keratin which can also prevent future split ends and breakage. While this mask deals with frizz reasonably well, it doesn't leave my hair quite as frizz-free as other hydrating masks, but I tend to prefer volume to frizz anyway.

Grow Long Repairing Anti-Breakage Mask*
Marc Anthony Hair Mask Review

The Grow Long collection is quite extensive and contains a host of products that promote protection of longer hair, but honestly all the masks seem very similar. The Anti-Breakage Mask is meant to prevent future breakage and correct existing hair damage by filling in the hair cuticle with hydrolyzed keratin and improving the appearance of hair with caffeine and ginseng (both believed to promote hair growth).

Marc Anthony Hair Mask Review

This mask is classically thick hair mask so I use about half a golf ball for the mid-lengths to ends of my hair with any excess going on the top of my head. The scent is intensely floral and not my favourite, but it disappears quickly and doesn't linger in my hair after I have dried it. I usually leave this mask on for about 5 minutes and then rinse out and the effects are noticeable right away! There is silicone in this mask so my hair does feel slippery and smooth upon rinsing, but is easy to brush though once dry. The frizz level is also quite a bit lower , but for the price of less natural volume at the roots.

Grow Long Intense Hydration Conditioning Treatment*
Marc Anthony Hair Mask Review

The only real difference I see between the Anti-Breakage Mask and this one is the amount of time the treatments are left on the hair and the lack of keratin.  The conditioning treatment is left on 2 minutes longer and focuses more on moisture, moisture and more moisture! Hair is pretty porous so it makes sense, but I feel like you could just leave the Anti-Breakage Mask on for longer and get similar results...granted for travel, it's nice to just have this 50mL sachet to bring along because this pack will easily last up up to 10 applications since it also has a thick consistency and little goes a long way!

Hands down my favourite masks were the new Instant Miracle Masks! I just found the packaging, scent and results to be outstanding so I am hoping that you all get a chance to try out the clay mask especially!
