Last Fall, I finally got a chance to try a Charlotte Tilbury foundation and it was very disappointing. After years of loving her eye, lip, cheek and skincare products (dry sheet mask please!) I was heartbroken when the Airbrush Flawless Foundation just did not work for me (see my sad face here), but there was still another foundation to try that people seemed to like and that was the Magic Foundation!

Like Airbrush Flawless, Magic is a full coverage and long-lasting foundation, but is demi-matte in finish instead of a natural matte finish. The formula also contains hyaluronic acid, laricyl (from mushrooms) and vitamin C, but as this is all past the halfway point of the ingredients list and sitting underneath some large silicone molecules, I wouldn't consider this to be skincare in the slightest. While both foundations promise hydrated, poreless skin, one definitely has a better result than the other at the end of the day and surprise, surprise, it's the Magic Foundation!
While I love the formula, one thing that annoyed me that I have to mention is how the cap fit. I prefer a "click" when I put caps back into things, but this bottle has a groove that the cap fits into and does not give any click or other form of feedback. Sometimes I wouldn't push the cap in hard enough and when I picked up the bottle, it would fall onto the counter. Yes, I know I could just pick up the bottle from the body, but that's just not how I roll.
I use my Juno & Co. sponge (wet) to apply and though it is full coverage, I definitely didn't find it heavy-looking as Airbrush Flawless. Both formulations feel weightless, but Magic just looks and feels more like my usual makeup style. I like my skin so I tend to feel a bit uncomfortable if I am wearing a super matte, full coverage foundation so Magic really works for me thanks to the demi-matte finish. I also only need about a half pump to cover my face, but this could also be because of the sponge I am using as I have noticed that I need far less product now than I did when using a Beauty Blender.
Magic Foundation in Shade 6 Medium
Freshly applied at 8am
After a 12 hour work day
Compared to the end of the day with Airbrush Flawless, I did not have caking around my nose and chin. I don't touch throughout the day, so the shine you see on my face is the natural oil build-up from the day. If you would like to see my bare face, it is in the Airbrush Flawless post and based on that, you can see that this foundation is still holding up quite well as I generally have redness around my nose and cheeks.
Final verdict: Obviously the title of this post was a bit of a giveaway, but this has become one of my favourite full coverage foundation options! I generally prefer light to medium coverage, but when I know my day is going to be long, I have been reaching for this one and now that I have been wearing it steadily 4-5x/week for the last 3 weeks, I feel comfortable with it and while other foundations may come and go, I know that this will always be in my collection.
You can find the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation at Holt Renfrew, Nordstrom and Sephora.
