NAILS | Summer Fruit Slices with Ella + Mila #CBBxManiMonday

It's officially summertime once I get fruit on my nails! It's also an exciting day because I get to try a new nail polish brand that I have only gotten a chance to admire through swatch videos on YouTube or on Instagram. Say hello to 7-free, vegan and cruelty-free ella+mila, named after the twin daughters of founder, Narineh Bedrossian. These polishes are geared towards all, but especially for young kids who want to spend some quality time with their moms and paint their nails!

"I Pink I Love You" is from the Samba collection from a couple of years ago and is a collection of bright neon shades. These neons are the type that are not too opaque so ideally you will need to use a  white base coat underneath to intensify the colour. What I have on is three coats ALONE so the formula is still fairly opaque with proper layering. The finish is also naturally matte, but I prefer a shiny finish so I applied a regular top coat.

This brand is in the category of "healthy polish" and though this isn't a quality I necessarily look for in a nail polish, it is nice to know when a polish I am using is free of certain things. In this case, I can definitely live without breathing in fumes of formaldehyde and toluene because those are actually not that great for you to breathe in over time. What tends to keep me away from this category of polish is formula and longevity. Some need a hair dryer to dry and others have formulas that are so watered down I may as well BE using tinted water. With ella+mila, when it came to this colour and watching live swatching of other shades, most of the polishes seemed to have great coverage so I will hopefully get a chance to try some of the other shades as I have a few in my cart on the Yatta Brands website!

This bright pink was actually quite pretty on its own, but to dress it up a bit and stick with our #CBBxManiMonday theme, I took out some of my fruit-themed fimo canes and sliced off some sections to stick on. NOW, I had a party!

Have a great Monday everyone and be sure to check out Renee and Trysh's blog and social media channels for their summer-themed manicures!
