Some of you know that I decided not to renew my FaceTory subscription after having it for two years not because of a decrease in quality, but because of the crappy USD to CDN exchange rate. There is also a shipping charge which also gets converted into CDN making it really hard to justify right now. I think we are all trying to be more mindful about where our money goes and I know I can live without buying sheet masks for probably a solid year! What I will miss is the exposure to hard-to-get masks and brands I have never heard of as well as the FaceTory brand of masks which I really enjoy. One of the brands that I have to thank FaceTory for introducing me to is Yadah.
Hebrew for "wisdom", Yadah is a Kbeauty brand known for using mainly Eastern prickly pear extract in their products. This plant is native to Korea and has anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. I have a few of their skincare products through the Beauteque subscription and their ingredients are relatively "easy to digest" without any artificial fragrance or colorants. I reviewed the Yadah Soothing Jelly Pack at the start of the lockdown and it was an interesting mask in terms of essence formula and now I have a mask that will just stop you in its tracks because it's RED FOIL!
Showstopping properties aside, it also has an interesting essence formula because this has 8 "red" ingredients that promise nutrition and skin vitality like pomegranate, strawberry, Chinese raspberry and grape extracts. Firstly, I'm sure the number "8" was chosen to appeal to the Asian market, but luckily all 8 of these ingredients are pretty good AND are all together at the top of the ingredients list. Most function as antioxidant or brightening ingredients and the fact that all of this combined with a red foil mask is something I found kind of cool. The idea behind a foil mask is that idea that the essence is able to "incubate" beneath the layer of foil as nothing evaporates. The description on FaceTory says that your skin will also get hot while things are "cooking" which makes sense as medically you cover people who are in shock or cold with foil to insulate them. What I found was more of a "muggy" heat similar to how you start to feel after wearing your surgical face mask out and about. It can get a bit uncomfortable and I almost felt like I was sweating towards the end.

Other notes: LOTS of essence leftover as the foil material isn't very absorbent so make sure to squeeze out some first and "prime" the skin
Final verdict: Obviously the impact of a red foil mask was a fun one for me, but I don't think I would purchase this again. Yes, my skin was moisturized and looked nice after, but no nicer than when I use my other sheet masks and skincare. I also don't enjoy foil masks as much as regular sheet or biocellulose masks. There was also a lot of essence left over which makes me think that more of it could have gone towards the sheet mask. This mask was cool to try and get a photo of, but I don't think I will be trying this again.
