MAKEUP | Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation

I had mentioned on my Instagram post today that it has been brutally hard trying to sit down after coming from work to type. Most of the time, I treat blog posts like a journal entry, but this week all I have been wanting to do is veg. I have been watching the YouTube series 'Hot Ones" which has been pretty addictive and if you haven't watched celebrities being interviewed while their mouths are on fire, it's worth it!

While I know Quarantine back in March/April was a daunting and uncertain time, I look back on it now with fairly positive feelings because I was able to do a lot of the things that I had always wanted to do, but just didn't have time for especially when it came to blogging. This month, I am celebrating NINE years of blogging and though a lot of people have quit as life changes have come up or turned to Instagram as it is evident people do not read as much as "scroll". It's sad, but true. I couldn't ever stop writing though and this place is just such a sanctuary for me that the pressure I generally feel is a good one that I create. I like "living" here and being able to go back and see a beauty repertoire of sorts.

One product that I put to the test back in April and had every intention of reviewing was the much talked about Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation. I resisted this brand so hard because it was ridiculously expensive, but over the last year I have been slowly phasing in a few products and though I can't say I will buy everything she comes out with, I definitely pay A LOT of attention now because everything I have tried so far has been GREAT.

Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Foundation

This is a sheer to medium long-wearing foundation with a weightless texture and satin finish. This formula also contains diamond core powder to enhance radiance and luminosity. I really didn't know what I was expecting from this, but generally I like satin finishes and the long-wear aspect is an important one for me as foundation is something I wear to work all the time. I have 10 hour days where it needs to hold up and now it has to hold up to the physical friction of a surgical mask rubbing the lower half of my face.

Packaging is obviously beautiful because it's Pat McGrath! The bottle is a frosted glass with a pump and gold stickered label. Sephora matched me with the shade Light Medium 12 which initially seems a bit too orange for me, but because this formula is so blendable, it ends up looking like a match after I'm done, but should I ever finish this bottle, I would get a more yellow shade.

This is one of those formulas where you don't know what to think within the first 5 minutes of application. Then over the next 20 minutes, the finish gets better and more flawless looking. I find that my skin looks good right through my work day even with my skin getting moist and more oily from working with a mask. I do not see any patchiness or movement throughout the day.

This foundation will not cover up any blaring imperfections, but it does make my skin look healthier and more luminous. A lot of reviews call this a "no makeup foundation" and I tend to agree. It doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything and yet I have the glow of someone who looks like they made WAY MORE effort than just applying a single layer of sponged on foundation.

Final verdict: This is a pricey foundation at $90, but I enjoy it as someone who likes more sheer coverage and a lightweight texture. I think the coverage makes my skin look fairly flawless and put together while feeling like I am wearing nothing and I REALLY like that it holds up well to a full work day and mask-wearing. I will come home from work, look at my face in the mirror and be impressed with the fact that there is so little breakdown in those key areas around my nose, chin and cheeks! The only thing I might change is getting a slightly different shade, but other than that, I really like this formula!
