I cannot believe #SooAeSeptember is over because it means that September is OVER! Not that I'm not excited for October and one of my most favourite times of year (Halloween!), but this last half of 2020 feels like a bullet train. It's amazing what Lockdown and Quarantine have done to our sense of time, but I think we have all learned a lot about ourselves and refocused our attention on things like self-care. Bath bombs, sheet masks and candles seem to be all I think about even though I have gone back to work and I see that for those who now work at home, these items have replaced lipsticks and foundation. My husband has always liked baths, but now that's he at home, he always asks for bath bombs and gets upset if my bath looks "prettier" than his!
Purchased by me
I had a fantastic time trying out almost every mask that Soo'Ae has to offer and though I'm sure it may have looked like me trying to suck up to the brand or showcase a bunch of press samples (let's face it, we can all think of influencers who do this), this idea was something I did completely on my own as a way for me to have an excuse to buy a shitload of sheet masks for "research purposes" and see what Soo'Ae had to offer! They have some of the cutest packaging as well as a variety of masks that do different things at an affordable price AND they are readily available at Walmart for anyone who is just starting out in the world of sheet masking! If anything, doing a product theme like this without the pressure of press samples felt pretty freeing!
While I don't plan on reviewing EVERY single Soo'Ae sheet mask I used, I like to highlight the ones that stood out to me and when it comes to the Juicy Glow Masks, they were just too yummy-smelling to not share with you all! They also come in fun colours so I HAD to share!
Juicy Strawberry Glow Mask
What makes these masks cool is the stretchy microfibre sheet which is incredibly soft, flexible and forms to the curves of the skin easily. This mask has raspberry and strawberry extract, hyaluronic acid and yogurt extract to leave skin with a lasting hydrated finish. I thought the dimethicone in the formulation would help with the non-tackiness, but even hours after removal, my skin was still quite sticky. Tolerable, but still much stickier than what I would like my skin to feel like.
Mask Summary Strawberry:
Price: $4.50 CDN
Skin concerns: Hydration, radiance
Scent: Strawberry candy!
Essence Type: Clear, jelly
Duration: 15-20 minutes
Thickness: Not the thinnest material I have tried, but because this is a microfibre sheet, this is as thin as they get!
Mask Fit: Good! Microfibre sheet masks are very stretchy so you can make them fit all your curves.
Tackiness: Medium, but I found it slightly stickier in finish than the Mango
Hydration: Good, but I added a moisturizer with dimethicone to reduce the tackiness.
Other notes: N/A
Juicy Mango Glow Mask
The Juicy Mango Glow Mask smells equally delicious and contains grapefruit, pomegranate, banana and mango fruit extracts and was maybe a touch less tacky in finish than the Strawberry, but still quite high up there.
Mask Summary Mango:
Price: $4.50 CDN
Skin concerns: Hydration, radiance
Scent: Very light mango
Essence Type: Clear, jelly
Duration: 15-20 minutes
Thickness: Not the thinnest material I have tried, but because this is a microfibre sheet, this is as thin as they get!
Mask Fit: Good! Microfibre sheet masks are very stretchy so you can make them fit all your curves.
Tackiness: Medium
Hydration: Good, but I added a moisturizer with dimethicone to reduce the tackiness.
Other notes: N/A
Final verdict: I would definitely purchase these again as I did have very hydrated skin upon removal even if the tackiness was higher than I'd prefer. The scents of both of these masks were great and really set the mood especially when it was summer and the fit was also pretty much perfect. The microfibre sheet is a unique material and interesting to wear so I hope some of you get the chance to try these out!
