Transformation Glow Face Mask with Vitamin C
Purchased by me

Happy first Sunday of May! At a glorious 22 degrees Celsius, we are well on our way to summer here in Vancouver and I only wish it would stay at this temperature as this is the most I can comfortably handle, but we are apparently in for a hot and dry summer this year so ugh. I am starting off this month with a brand new Sephora Collection mask that I picked up during the Sephora VIB sale and yes, I am still Rouge despite my beauty purchasing cutbacks. Granted, I am basically making the $1000 cut-off always during the November event instead of before where I was pretty much making it twice over by July!

The Sephora Transformation Glow Face Mask with Vitamin C is one of those colour-changing hydrogel masks that turns clear when ready to remove. I normally stay away from these types of masks because they generally require you to keep them on for at least 2 hours or all night which I am not a fan of. I picked up this mask because it would apparently turn clear in just 30 minutes which is the normal amount of time I leave a mask on anyway.

Transformation Glow Face Mask with Vitamin C Review

What makes this mask special? In addition to the colour-changing aspect, this mask uses stabilized vitamin C in the form of ascorbyl glucoside that provides a slow release avoiding skin irritation that can sometimes occur with vitamin C products. This is definitely something I struggle with when using vitamin C products that are too concentrated.

Transformation Glow Face Mask with Vitamin C Review

I understand that when masks are very thin, it's helpful to have plastic to prevent them from sticking to themselves, but I found the amount of plastic in this mask to be overkill. Each of the two pieces had plastic on both sides so four pieces of plastic total which I found to be completely unnecessary.

For a thin hydrogel mask, this was the worst-fitting one I have ever used! It refused to lay flat and felt like a bag on my face. The scent though was pleasant to me as it smelled like warm cotton with a bit of a vanilla to it. It is fairly strong though so if you prefer unscented or very lightly scented products you might not enjoy this aspect of the mask.

Mask Summary:

Price: $8.50 CDN

What it does: Infused with vitamin C to brighten, refresh and plump the skin

Scent: Warm cotton with a hint of vanilla

Essence Type: Slightly watery and milky

Duration: 30 minutes

Thickness: This is one of the thinnest hydrogel masks I have ever used and it really surprised me coming from a brand like Sephora!

Mask Fit: Poor around the chin and eyes. I was not able to smooth anything down because the material was so much stiffer than what I know hydrogel to be.

Tackiness: None

Hydration: Ooooh, ok my skin feels pretty good and does indeed have a "glass skin"-like appearance!

Other notes: So much plastic in its packaging!

Final verdict: Results were great in terms of hydration, glow and overall glass skin effect! I also liked that this mask was not one I had to keep on for hours, so I hope this mask gets a bit of a facelift in terms of the amount of plastic used and perhaps the way the mask fits on the face. Maybe this material had to be thin in order to go clear in only 30 minutes? I liked the results, so I would consider using this again even though many aspects of the mask experience annoyed me. I rate this mask a MAYBE!
