BEAUTY | Sephora Collection Outrageous Plump Lip Gloss x Tabasco

Purchased by me

How many of you are Hot Ones fans? If you haven't heard of the show, it's where host Sean Evans ask "hot questions with even hotter wings" and the hot sauces they use change every season with the exception of Da Bomb which is known to be just pure pepper extract and meant to annihilate. I love the show and while I am not normally a spice lover when it comes food, but I AM a spice lover with my lip products so can you imagine my delight when the Sephora Collection Plump Lip Gloss x Tabasco Collaboration popped up as a suggestion while I was browsing the Sephora app?!

Originally, it was just the green lip gloss that popped up and then when I clicked on it, I saw there were three others AND that they came in a set! I already have a few shades of this lip gloss and what I love about them is that these are more of a cooling, icy sensation rather than an itchy, prickly one so one thing led to another and I used one of the gift cards I received for Christmas to purchase the set!

The first thing is that they do not smell like Tabasco sauce at all! The spice level is the lowest at green with black being the most intense and frankly my favourite one! They each come in their own little silicone sleeve with the Tabasco logo making them look like mini bottles of Tabasco that you can hook onto your bags as bag charms are all the rage right now! There is even a little red pepper charm on each sleeve!

They each have a very sheer tint of colour (lip swatches from Sephora website) that are quite subtle and if I use them on top of another lip product, doesn't change my overall lip colour too much. I applied the green one on my husband and he barely noticed any tingle and didn't really see much of a colour difference.

For day to day, I find myself wearing Tasbasco Red the most often, but Extreme Heat is my favourite in terms of the tingle and plumping effect! I am wearing Extreme Heat on bare lips in the below two photos and you can see that the edges of my lips are a little blurred because of the "heat' which I personally enjoy and have had no reactions to. This is coming from someone who has had many reactions to cinnamon-based lip plumpers, but capsicum extract is used in these ones which I am fine with and gives the more cooling effect (Charlotte Tilbury's Plumpgasm also uses this).

The only thing I wish were better about these lip glosses is the lasting power. The gloss consistency is more on the thinner, non-sticky side, which I know there is a time and place for and that some people prefer, but it does mean they don't last quite as long. When I use these at work, I feel the need to reapply every 1-2 hours especially on bare lips. If I have a lipstick base, the longevity is a bit better.

Final verdict: I like these despite their lack of staying power as I have already been using this product for a couple of years. I love the fun packaging and how cute each of these lip glosses look. The colour hues are subtle so great for anyone, but if you are planning on buying them individually, the red and black shades are my favourite!
