NAILS | Manucurist Active Blur - Makeup for Your Nails?

Manicurist Active Blur Review

Sadness! I had another nail break which was significant enough that I chopped down my nails to give them all a restart which gave me a chance to dig into my archives and review a product I have been using over the last few weeks - the Manucurist Active Blur!

I have been struggling with what feels like super dry nails for a few months now so I have been rotating through various nourishing base coats, but Detox Canada sent over what I thought was just another base coat, but when I looked it up on their website, it was more like a blend of cosmetic and nail care or a "blurring primer" for the nails if you will.

Active Blur is a vegan nail polish formulation in a soft powder pink with a velvet matte finish. Above is a photo of my natural nails (before break obviously) and you can see that although they were growing long, my middle nail especially just looked really dry.

This is with one coat of Active Blur and you can see that they look a little healthier now! I think I prefer two coats though, but on days where I am giving my nails a rest or just am too tired to paint (which feels like a lot of the time now), I've been using Active Blur to give my nails an appearance boost. Like "My Nails, But Better aka MNBB". The shade of pink is very natural, soft and almost ethereal which I really enjoy!

In terms of ingredients, there are some skincare-esque ingredients like squalene, glycolic acid, niacinamide and biotin, but I still would not advise applying this to your face in any way! Nail polish products are one of those products that I think will never be "healthy" enough to do that since nitrocellulose still makes up such a large portion of the formula, but definitely good to know that brands are trying to formulate with the body and skin in mind.

Final verdict: LOVE. This is definitely one of the nicer nail care products I have used in awhile and has definitely piqued my interest in trying more from Manucurist as they are supposed to be a more natural alternative to gel polish. Manucurist actually has a number of nail care products that focus on giving nails a natural glow or shimmer if you want to sport the minimalist or more natural look. Shorter nails are also very much in right now, so "makeup" products like these for your nails are a great option! Stay tuned as I hope to feature more of their products here in the future!

You can find the Manucurist Active Blur from The Detox Market.
