Here we are well into the second week of August and I cannot believe we are already this far into summer and I am still reviewing my May Ipsy Original Bag LOL!
E.L.F. SKIN | Holy Hydrated Clean Freak Daily Cleanser
I think this was my favourite part of this month's Ipsy bag which is saying something...I know that ELF is a drugstore brand, but it has been YEARS since I have actually bought an ELF product so I do enjoy when I get to try full sized ones through Ipsy. This is a gel cleanser that foams, but does not strip the skin. You only need just over a dime-sized amount so this 162mL tube is going to last quite awhile which is why I have told my husband he is free to use it on his head (he shaves his head) for cleansing since he does not need shampoo for hair. I received the FULL SIZE valued at $14 CDN.
DERMALACTIVES | Deep Collagen Care Mask
From the name of this mask, it sounds like it should be pretty hydrating, but then the kaolin clay makes it seem like it would be drying. It is supposed to leave skin feeling bouncy and supple and though I have not tried this yet, it is the summer and my skin tends to be better with clay masks during the more humid season so I will report back if it turns out to be friggin' amazing! I received a deluxe sample valued at $7 USD.
BELLAPIERRE COSMETICS | Waterproof Black Volume Mascara in Black
I just updated my beauty profile to not have mascara anymore to give me some time to go through what I have! As I don't love the brand Bellapierre (I mean, it's OK) I might actually be giving this mascara away then again, it IS waterproof which I don't really have much of. This formula is meant to be non-flaky and deliver volume and definition, but with Asian lashes those descriptions are kind of meaningless and already looking at the brush and how puffy it is, I just don't see myself enjoying it. I received the FULL SIZE valued at $19 USD.
AKAR SKIN | Soothe Face Oil
I like Akar Skin so I was looking forward to trying out this face oil and though it is super intensely hydrating and probably too much for summer, I know I will be loving it for winter! It also smells so good with its blend of rose, tsubaki, Edelweiss, flower and vitamins A and E. I received a deluxe sample valued at $30.67 CDN! The full size at 30mL is $184 CDN!
TOYFACTORY | Dollpaint Gel Eyeliner
I can't tell if this is defective because this eyeliner is SO DRY. Like I am pulling to get colour and I definitely cannot use it on my waterline because I can't apply this liner hard enough to get any product to appear! The product description says this is meant to be a buttery formula, but I honestly want to throw this liner in the trash which is sad because it IS a nice shade of brown with a super fine tip that would have made it great for lining both the top and lower lash lines. I received the FULL SIZE valued at $26 CDN.
Final verdict: The total value of this month's Ipsy Original Bag was $106.88 CDN. The fact that I only liked two of the products was a bit disappointing, but then again those two products did make me really happy to try. Let's see how we do for June!
