Summer is almost over and I wanted to squeak in one last sunscreen review, which honestly, I was ready to do last summer, but just never got a chance to feature on the blog though I have mentioned Solara Suncare on my IG Stories quite a few times due to my love for it!

Founded by Stephanie DiPisa, Solara Suncare products are zinc-based, physical sunscreens that provide "full spectrum protection with skin loving benefits". Honestly, the skin-loving benefit I want out of any of my sunscreens is that it prevents skin cancer! The other stuff, I can get out of my regular skincare routine. I use both chemical and physical sunscreens, preferring chemical mainly due to the thinner texture and no white cast, but if a physical sunscreen manages to do the same, I am fully onboard and Solara not only did that, but also surprised me in a positive way with its formula!

If you did not tell me this was a sunscreen, I would have thought this was just a dry oil for the face and body because it smells like a citrus dream and actually gives skin this beautiful glowy sheen. It sprays out white, but completely disappears when massaged on to the skin. The "spray radius" is fairly tight so it will not fly all over your clothing, but out of habit, I still prefer to spray into the palm of my hands and then rub onto the areas of my body and face that need protection. As this sunscreen does contain oils, it will stain clothing if it comes into contact with fabrics.

In the past, I have used only two other sunscreen oils - Paula's Choice and Supergoop!, both of which were thicker in consistency and definitely did not smell as nice. The orange scent of this Solara sunscreen is so lovely and such a winner for me because it smells so authentic, but because there are also a number of hydrating plant-based oils in the formulation, your skin truly does benefit from application.

Out of all of these wonderful things I have to say about this product, I do have one slightly negative thing and that is the price. At $68 CDN/100mL, for use on the face AND body this bottle (which is luxuriously glass) will be gone in no time, but when you think about the price of what Supergoop!, Ultraviolette or *OMG* Tatcha charges for 50mL of only face sunscreen, this $68 does not seem so bad! If you really want to make this last, I would use Solara for the face and upper body and then some cheap Coppertone for your legs! It would also be nice for the mineral sunscreen technology to get up to SPF 50, but I think for now SPF 50 will make everyone look like a ghost!

Final verdict: Hands down the BEST mineral sunscreen I have used and one of the best overall sunscreens I have used! I am definitely open to trying their other sunscreen formulations, but I will wait perhaps until next year when I have used up more of what I have on hand OR when Detox Market has their next sale!
