January Topbox - Love It!

Hello Beauty Box Lovers!

My Topbox for this month was one that I really liked and was happy with everything that I received. I recognized the tube-shaped parcel in the postman's hand right away and then he started to fool around and say that maybe this parcel wasn't for me...and then wouldn't hand it over! All I can say is, don't mess with a girl and her Topbox ;-)

In this month's edition of Topbox, the personalized product for me was the Principessa dry shampoo which is a brown powder specifically for darker shades of hair. I've used dry shampoos before, but they were white powders that really didn't blend in well with my black hair, so I'm pleased that I don't have to worry about looking like I have dandruff with this product!

All in all the items I received were:

Principessa Beauty - Notte Breeze Dry Shampoo (full size $24 for 125g)
Cake Beauty - Velveteen Hand Creme in the scent "It's a Slice" (full size $18 for 100mL)
Shu Uemura - Full Shimmer Illuminating Shampoo (full size $45 for 300mL)
LillyPilly - Tea Tree Hand and Body Creme (full size $22 for 150mL)

I would love to tell you what the hand cremes smell like, but I'm on Day 2 of the head cold I caught from my bf, so at this point they really could smell awful and I wouldn't know the difference. Seeing as how I already own the "It's a Slice" hand creme, I can say that it's quite sweet and smells like oranges. It's a scent I quite enjoy, but might be too sweet for some. As a lotion, it's awesome! It has mango and shea butter in it and moisturizes without feeling greasy. The lotion by LillyPilly was also really nice with the same level of moisturizing without feeling greasy. Apparently this is an Australian favourite and I can see why! It's packed full of natural ingredients and even though the scent is more of a neutral, earthy scent (according to my bf!), it's still a nice "natural-smelling" alternative.

I have not tried any Shu Uemura hair products before, but I'm pretty excited about trying out this very generous sample of shampoo! I almost want to get the conditioner to go with it to get maximum full shimmer potential!

So, let's see what everything adds up up shall we? I just like doing the math, it's the part I look forward to when I review the boxes!

Principessa Beauty Dry Shampoo - 30g = $5.76
Cake Beauty Hand Creme *full size given* = $18 (Woohoo!)
Shu Uemura Shampoo - 75mL = $11.25
LillyPilly Hand and Body Creme - 50mL = $7.33
Topbox Total Value = $42.34

Not bad at all! I'm so happy with everything seeing as how 3 out 4 products I have not tried yet and all were very decent sized samples. I felt this was a really a luxury sample box and for this month I say, "Awesome job Topbox!".

  4. I saw your post on the Glymm FB page, and started reading your blog. Thank you! I am going to keep reading your posts as I too am a lover of makeup (and happen to also have a background in Cell & Molecular Biology... go figure!). I tried to sign up for the Top Box, but it seems there is a wait list. (Not surprising considering the package your received!) I did however come across mention of Glossy Box. I'm going to give that one a try. Thanks for the tips, and keep 'em coming!

    1. Awww, I'm glad you enjoy reading and that's awesome that we have the same CellBio backgrounds! It's always nice to discover. Totally give Glossybox a try, I just signed up myself a few days ago. A little more expensive, but there are supposed to be more samples in each box. The battle of the boxes begins!
