August Luvs

As much as I love doing August favourites, it also means that Fall is approaching and to be honest, I think I’m ready for Fall and cozying up with a blanket on cold nights. Another reason I know Fall is coming? Yoshi has been sleeping outside on the patio at night, but slept on our bed last night for the first time in two months and stretched to his full sausage length. We barely had any room to sleep! My favourites for the month have been products that I have been constantly reaching for so here we go!

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo
Smells absolutely divine and felt so refreshing in my hair after a hot and sticky day. I found this shampoo to be a bit drying during the colder months so I only use it after a workout or hot day.

Escents Hand and Body Lotion in Tomato Zest
Yes, that’s right, the bottle says “unscented”, but I had it scented to smell like tomatoes! It actually smells savoury and fresh, but the scent doesn’t linger too long. This lotion is very moisturizing and contains vitamin E, B5, comfrey, chamomile extract, avocado oil, apricot kernel oil and jojoba oils. It’s also non-greasy which is always a plus.

Clarins Multi-Active Skin Renewal Serum
This has got to be my favourite serum that I have ever used and the only real reasons are smell and consistency. A lot of the serums I have used before tend to be tacky or sticky once applied to the skin. This serum is more like a cream and isn’t quite as sticky. The only downside is how expensive this serum is at $60 for 30mL, but other than that, this will be the serum I stick with.

Lush Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub
I’m sad because my tub is almost finished so I’m trying to conserve it while I place my order with Lush! The smell is citrusy and refreshing, but what I love the most is that it’s a scrub that can be used as a soap or even shampoo! When it comes into contact with water, it actually kind of lathers a little bit like soap so you can exfoliate and soap up all in one step! The scrub is also blue which makes showers a little more interesting!

The Body Shop Vitamin E Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes
My obsession with facial wipes continues! In terms of texture, these are my favourite so far. They are the softest wipes I have tried, but do have a strong scent. I can’t seem to pinpoint what the scent is, but it’s kind of soapy? Luckily, I don’t mind the scent, but if strong scents bother you this may not be the best option.

Lancome Artliner
I’ve had this for a few months now and purchased it because I kept hearing so many good things about it. Okay, okay, Michelle Phan kept talking about it and even though I know she’s a Lancome spokesperson, the Artliner really did seem like a great product! It’s surprisingly easy to use and the one thing that surprised me is that the felt liner is flexible and quite bendy. The felt liners I have used in the past have had stiff tips like the Physician’s Formula eyeliner. The staying power is great and I can create thin and thick lines fairly easily. The Artliner is a little expensive though at $39 CDN so once this if finished, I don’t think I would buy it again since I am more than happy with my PF eyeliner.

Essence Lipstick in Creamy Nude
We all know how value-priced Essence makeup is and that the quality is also quite good so when I was looking for a nude lipstick, I figured I would give Essence a try. This lipstick has a sweet scent and is very creamy and moisturizing in consistency. I would definitely purchase more lipsticks from Essence based on this first experience.

Marcelle Lengthening and Curling Mascara
I received this in my April Glossybox and after seeing Steph from Canadian Beauty Reviews rave about it, I decided to give it a try and boy am I glad I did! This does exactly what it claims! My lashes look longer and they hold curl all on their own! I have used this for a month straight and it’s fantastic!

And that wraps up another round of favourites! Pretty soon we’ll all be reviewing moisturizers and chapsticks that combat cold weather! This summer has just flown by!

    1. I have my showers at night, so I use the face wipe and then wash my face in the shower too. I know what you mean though...if I'm wearing a lot of makeup or have just had a long day, the only thing that would make me feel better is a good face-washing!

  10. Great favorites for August, Jayne! I haven't used a felt liner in a few years now...that Lancome one seems awesome since it's flexible! I had a stiff one and didn't like it as much..

  11. Great favourites!!! I have been loving the marcelle mascara too and will definitely be repurchasing. I think it is an interesting that you love the essence lipstick..I bought one and really disliked the consistancy but maybe it was just the colour I got? I'll definitely try a different colour now! :)

    1. Oh really? My lipstick was quite nice, but you're right it could be the colour too. What I love about the Marcelle mascara is also how inexpensive it is!
