Memebox Special | #39 Cafe Box Unboxing and First Impressions

I remember when Korean beauty products were something that beauty bloggers on this side of the world didn’t really talk about. I don’t remember how many times people would say “I’ve always wanted to try Korean beauty products, but I’m scared/unsure of what to buy”. I honestly don’t know HOW Memebox has been able to get people to be so trusting all of a sudden, but hey, it’s getting Korean cosmetics on the map. One thing that Memebox has done incredibly well is choosing themes that make us go mental and cause us to buy boxes in MULTIPLES. Today’s coffee-themed Cafe Box is going to be one of those multiple boxes so I apologize in advance.

Memebox Cafe Box

Vella |Fresh Creamy Soap

Vella Fresh Creamy Soap

Thoughts: This is a cleaner with a whipped texture and contains donkey milk (?), 3 kinds of honey complex and 4 floral extracts. This cleanser is quite creamy and does a decent job of removing makeup. This cleanser does not upset the pH balance of your skin so you know what that means right? No toner required!

Full size: 100mL/$11 USD

Tonymoly |Latte Art Cappuccino Cream-In Scrub

Tonymoly Latte Art Cappucino Cream-In Scrub

Thoughts: SO CUTE. I have a mask from Tonymoly that is also in a mug and I cannot get over this packaging! This scrub is like a thick jelly/creme with scrubby bits sporadically spread throughout. The grit is fairly gentle and although the instructions say to only use twice a week, I think you’d be able to use it almost daily. The consistency gets frothy after massaging and smells like Asian dessert coffee jello!

Full size: 95g/$13 USD

I received: *FULL SIZE*

Holika Holika |Dessert Time Lip Balm in Peach Cupcake

Holika Holika Dessert Time Lip Balm in Peach Cupcake

Thoughts: We’ve all seen this type of lip balm concept in stores like Indigo near the checkout so as cute as this is, it wasn’t all that exciting. It does smell quite good, applies smoothly and is very hydrating.

Full size: 7g/$6 USD

I received: *FULL SIZE*

Cleomee|Anti-Wrinkle Donkey Lotion

Cleomee Anti-Wrinkle Donkey Lotion

Thoughts: This is my first product EVER with donkey milk in it! Did you know that donkey milk was disapproved by the USDA until 2001? It seems like North Americans don’t really like it, but that’s obviously not the case in Korea! Donkey milk has long been used historically for both cosmetic and medicinal purposes and other than mare’s milk is closest to human breast milk (*THE MORE YOU KNOW*)! This lotion is quite fragrant – creamy and slightly floral. What’s nice is that this lotion can be used on both the face and body.

Full size: 250mL/$83 USD (Currently on special for $45)

I received: *FULL SIZE*

Pure Smile |Mask Sheet in Green Tea

Pure Smile Green Tea Mask Sheet

Thoughts: I love sheet masks and while I suspect the all do the same thing, I feel like using one is always such a treat. This one is an anti-aging one, so best used at night.

Full size: 1 sheet/$1 USD

I received: *FULL SIZE*

Binu Cook |Ice Cream Scoop Cacao Body Soap

Binu Cook Ice Cream Scoop Cacao Body Soap

Thoughts: This is genuine chocolate ice cream saponified! It was sealed off in a separate bag because the scent would have just enveloped the box like an ice cream cloud. This is a “bar” of soap and it smells just like real chocolate. It’s crazy!

Full size: 70g/$3 USD

Memebox Cafe Box (2)

The Donkey Lotion alone more than covered the price of this box, but of course value really comes down to whether the Donkey Lotion was worth it TO YOU. My favourite products from this Cafe Box definitely had to have been the chocolate ice cream scoop soap and the Tonymoly scrub. I felt this Memebox was well-curated and in terms of scents, totally up my beauty box alley.
