It is finally time to dive right into the heart of the Dior Tie Dye Collection – eyeshadows and blushes and lipsticks, OH MY! It was hard to figure out where to even start, but I love seeing how a look can come together using all the pieces. I was on my way out to see Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai, but the hubby made me promise not to LOOK like a circus performer and seeing as how marriage is all about compromise, I delved into the 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in #746 Ambre Nuit*($62.00 CDN) with its more neutral shades inspired by hints of bronzed amber and sand.
I actually have 2 Dior eyeshadow palettes from 2012 that looked super pretty in the pan, but colour payoff was hit or miss depending on the shade. With Dior, I have often found that the lighter shades tend to be the ones that are more finicky or powdery. With the exception of the center highlight and peach shades, the other three shadows swatched easily.
I instinctively always want to use bronze for my eyeshadow, but seeing as how there are FIVE colours in this palette we can’t let them all go to waste can we?

Dior Diorskin Star Studio Makeup SPF 30 in #021
Brows:
Diorshow Brow Styler in #002 Universal Dark Brown*
Eyes:
Apply Mary Kay Primer all over the lid. Apply the lightest matte brown shade from the Amber Nuit Palette* all over lid and up to brow bone. Apply the shimmery bronze shade all over lid just below brow bone. I had some issues with this shade showing up on my eyes over top the light brown so I really had to pack it on with my fingers. Take the darkest brown shade and define the crease of the eye with a fluffy brush and a window wiper motion.
I then highlighted the area under my brow bone with the shimmery peach shade and took the center highlighter shade to highlight the inner corners of my eyes.
Line the lower lash line with the shimmery bronze shade and line the lower waterline with the darkest brown shade and an angled brush. Since I wanted to keep the eyes fairly simple, instead of using black liquid eyeliner like I always do, I decided to also line the upper lash line with the dark brown shade.
Apply Diorshow Mascara in #168 Purple*
Cheeks:
Dioskin Nude Tan Tie Dye Edition in Pink Sunrise*
Lips:
Dior Addict Tie Dye Lipstick in #005 Fuchsia Utopia*
Final Verdict:
I’m sure we all have enough neutral type palettes to last us a lifetime so I’m not sure if this palette is necessarily for everyone. At the price point Dior commands, I would be more inclined to get a palette that had shades were slightly more adventurous. I also felt that out of the 5 shades present in this palette, I wouldn’t use one (the peach) so ignoring 20% of a palette seems like a bit of waste. For you more fair-skinned gals though, the peach shade IS super pretty and would show up beautifully on fairer skin tones.
Ambre Nuit will be a permanent addition to the Dior 5 Couleur Eyeshadow Palette family and can be found at Dior counters across Canada.
