TANNING | Getting Summer Ready with Vita Liberata Luxury Tan Trystal Minerals – Bronzed and Ready in 5 Steps!

Gone are the days of oiling up the skin and getting that golden glow “naturally”. With skin cancer being quite prevalent, as well as wanting to avoid that leathery reptilian look, there are now incredibly natural-looking tans that can be achieved safely through the use of self-tanners. I have personally been terrified of using them because there was an incident years ago that left my skin looking orange and uneven. No doubt it was my fault for not reading the instructions properly and being impatient so when I saw that Vita Liberata recently introduced self tanning bronzing POWDER, I thought this might be the most foolproof way to go.

The Trystal Minerals Self Tanning Bronzing Minerals with the Kabuki Brush* ($67.00 CDN or $55.00 CDN without) is for the face and uses something called Trystal 3 Technology to combine an instant pure mineral bronze colour with a long lasting self tan to give skin results that last for up to 5 days. I believe this is the first time I have ever seen a self tanner in mineral form which also means, longer shelf life! This tanner is oil-free with DHA (dihydroxyacetone) which is a skin colouring agent used in most self tanners. All you need to do is apply your favourite liquid foundation or moisturizer and start buffing your tan on!

The kabuki brush is incredibly soft though I’m sure most makeup mavens will have a bronzer brush that work just as well.

The bronzing minerals looks just like a matte bronzing powder.

There are instructions on WHERE to brush on the minerals, but it is essentially contouring. To start, I applied one of my favourite BB Creams by Boscia and then swept the minerals across my cheekbones. Then, I blended all across my T-zone and then down the jaw line and into the neck and décolleté because the neck is just as important! All I have done in the above photo is my brows. The glow is ever so sunkissed that it looks like I just went to the beach!

Final Verdict: The results are supposed to last 5 days, but when I showered and washed my face that night I certainly didn’t look quite as tanned which was unfortunate. I took care NOT to exfoliate, but perhaps I should have exfoliated BEFORE applying the bronzing minerals like you would with body self tanner? I just wasn’t sure that it mattered all that much and usually the instructions state if you need to exfoliate first. For me, this is still better than just using a regular bronzer because the minerals seems to glide across my face for foolproof even-looking colour. I have not tried Vita Liberata’s mousses or lotions yet which people seem to really love and both for ease of use and long-lasting effects. For now, I will say that the behaviour appears to be more like a bronzer on my skin and the price isn’t exactly inexpensive for how long it lasts compared to other self tanners. I really was pleased with the final results since I am a contouring noob, but feel like my self tanning journey will not end with this product.

Who here has tried this product and has had the tan last up to 5 days like the box claims? Any tips? For those that love to self tan, what are your favourite self tanning products?
