The Paradise Calling Collection from Mary Kay feels so much more like a summer collection to me than one for spring with product names like “Tiki Hut” and “Tropical Mandarin”. There were a few things in the collection that really caught my eye, but the Whipped Eye Colors in Tiki Hut* ($18.00 CDN) and Seafoam* caught my attention because I just wanted to touch them because they look just as tempting as fresh snow in their little pots! Promising to be lightweight and easily blendable, these cream shadows can be as sheer or as opaque as you would like.
It was incredibly satisfying and a little sad delving into these little glass pots because I was hoping they wouldn’t be quite so “whipped”? The glittery sheen disappeared, but the texture was incredibly weightless while still being pigmented.
Tiki Hut, a dark shimmery brown, fared better in pigmentation than Seafoam, a pearlescent blue-green. As pretty of a shade it is, Seafoam doesn’t seem to do much for my skin tone.
Seafoam on the lower lash line.
Tiki Hut all over the lid.
Final Verdict: These are so cool! Like I said, Seafoam was disappointing for me, but Tiki Hut is just stunning! I love the shimmery and how intense or subdued I can make the colour. Both colours lasted around 5 hours without creasing (I didn’t even wear primer) so I was quite pleased. My only concern with cream shadows is that they will go hard, mouldy or just get really gross-looking. There isn’t any water in these shadows, so in theory, they should last! These two shades are limited edition until May 16th so I know I’m being a bit of late one in posting about these, but they are still available until the end of the week!
