Every month I try to go through my stash and inevitably, I always rediscover some sort of makeup treasure where I either decide that it should go to another loving home OR into my makeup rotation for the next couple of weeks. When it came to the Clarins 5 Colour Eyeshadow Palette in #03 Natural Glow* ($39.00 CDN), I had a look at the shades and wondered why I hadn't used it more often! Though this palette is from the Spring collection, the current Fall 4 Colour Eyeshadow Palettes have very similar shades that can be used to recreate this smoky brown-eyed girl look.
I have reviewed and worn a couple of Clarins palettes over the years and their consistency with regards to wearability and shadow choices is something I find comforting. In addition to the generous size of each palette shade (1.5g), I have always found the shades easy to put together. No, they aren't always the most exciting, but Clarins has always been a great basics brand for me (though my first bright purple shade was from them back in my early 20s!).
The Natural Glow palette is composed of one matte neutral shade, perfect as an all over eyeshadow base colour, three metallic shades and one shimmery "topper". My favourites were the last three shades because they swatched as smooth as Shemar Moore and made you go "Mmmm, that's good!". Someone please comment and tell me they know what I mean!
The champagne "topper" had quite a bit of fallout, but fared better when patted on top of other shades with fingers.
I kept this makeup look fairly low key, but gave it a punch with a bright creamy red lip.
