SHEET MASKS | ORGAID Organic Sheet Masks and New Honey and Brown Rice Face Polish!

Way back in 2017, I attended Cosmoprof North America in Las Vegas, which is an annual beauty trade show focusing on beauty brands with cool technologies, so you won't be seeing anything boring! Favourite brands like Odacite, Purlisse and Pai were all there to showcase what made them different from everyone else and the lineup this year looks pretty amazing too! While visiting the Green Beauty area of the show, I came across the brand ORGAID, made in California and developed by Korean chemist Dr. Baek, and at the time, was exclusively a sheet mask only brand. Not only was the essence free of parabens, alcohols, phthalates, phenoxyethanol, sulfates and artificial fragrance, but what REALLY set this skincare brand apart from the others was the invention of a sheet mask material called Ecoderma!

Ecoderma is a non-woven fabric blended with natural hydrogel material that is thin, breathable and adheres to skin easily without lifting. I was curious about the technology and thankfully Dr. Baek was there to answer my questions and with his background in biomaterial delivery systems, it seemed rather fitting that he would try to figure out how to more effectively deliver skincare ingredients to the skin using a new sheet mask material! ORGAID wasn't available in Canada at the time, but two years later, I am so happy to find the brand at Canadian retailers and with a new product to add to their menu!

Forgive the disconnect in photos as I initially took my photos for these first two sheet masks and then when I featured them on social media, ORGAID reached out to me directly to review their new scrub and it didn't make sense to split the reviews in half since I know you all would want to know about ALL of their products in one place!

ORGAID currently has three sheet masks: Vitamin C Revitalizing (for dullness and hyperpigmentation), Anti-Aging Moisturizing (hydration and soothing) and Greek Yogurt Nourishing (nourishes and tightens) and as of last month a brand new organic face polish made with brown rice and honey!

ORGAID Organic Sheet Mask Review

Mask Summary: Vitamin C Revitalizing

Scent: None
Duration: 20-30 minutes
Thickness: Medium
Mask Fit: Good with slight wrinkles around chin
Tackiness: Zero
Hydration: Medium meaning you will need moisturizer, but skin feels fresh and glowy!

If you have a look at the ingredients list, it's short, but what I like is that it's an "efficient" list in the sense that there are no filler ingredients. This is a vitamin C so right after water, I get organic lemons which have? Vitamin C! You also have orange peel and pomegranate extracts, which is often used in skincare to stimulate fibroblasts which produce the much loved skin-building block collagen!

ORGAID Organic Sheet Mask Review

I say the mask has a medium thickness which I usually think of as a bad thing, but in this case it is purely an observation because even though it was thicker than what I would normally prefer in a sheet mask, you can see that this held its shape well, I didn't get a chin goatee the entire 30 minutes I wore the mask because there was enough essence absorbed by the mask to keep its shape. It also wasn't dry when it came to remove it, but my skin felt happy. Ecoderm is definitely a unique material and the best way I can describe it is kind of like a gel-paper mask as it was both solid and pliable.

Now, for ORGAID's latest addition - the Honey Crystal and Brown Rice Organic Face Polish*! I had no idea if ORGAID was going to make more sheet masks or other forms of skincare, so I was so happy to see that they went with a honey-based exfoliator with the CUTEST packaging ever!

ORGAID Organic Face Polish Review

We all know how awesome honey is with its antibacterial, healing, nourishing and hydrating properties. It's like the Windex of skincare so what I love about this face scrub is that again the ingredients are fairly straightforward because honey does a lot on its own so you don't really need to add much else! The physical exfoliant is organic brown rice, which I have yet to see in a scrub other than Tatcha, and it is very finely milled to gently buff away dead skin cells at the surface. I still go easy around my cheek area because of my broken capillaries, but around my chin and forehead I can be pretty generous with my buffing motions! I only needed to use this once a week and it was enough to keep my skin clear and bright.

The other thing that is super cool about this face scrub is that you will notice there is no water in the ingredients list which means that one, it will last longer because bacteria need water to grow and two, you need to add water to this scrub to get it going! It's also a scrub that does not leave your skin stripped and if anything because the honey and oils are practically melting into the skin, my skin never feels tight after usage.

Ingredients: Organic Brown Rice, Organic Honey Crystal, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Safflower Oil, Organic Soybean Oil, Organic Lecithin, Organic Jojoba Oil, Stearic Acid, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Rose Essential Oil, Organic Geranium Essential Oil, Vitamin E

ORGAID Organic Face Polish Review

Final verdict: Whew! Well thank you for making it to the end or at least scrolling quickly through the photos, but I will definitely be purchasing more sheet masks on my own! The Greek Yogurt one was oddly my favourite in terms of results because I was expecting the essence to be creamy, but it was just a clear gel that was non-tacky and made my skin look better. I always want brighter skin so the next mask I would like to use again is the Vitamin C one especially in the summer when you don't want a sticky essence, but want to feel refreshed. While the face scrub is pretty cool, at my age I use a fair number of chemical exfoliants so having a physical one isn't at the top of my list anymore, but once in awhile it's nice to "get your hands dirty" and scrub away for instant results! Chemical exfoliants tend to be a bit more gentle and more gradual in revitalizing the skin (unless you use a higher acid %). I cannot wait to see what else ORGAID has in the pipeline because I enjoyed the ingredients they have chosen to use in their skincare and I am fascinated by the Ecoderm material so i feel like innovation is in the works!
