SKINCARE | Birch + Beauty Renew Daily Anti-Aging CBD Moisturizer and Lavender CBD Soap Bar

It has been no secret that CBD has become a big part of my life as it has helped me with sleeping more soundly at night and be less of a grump during the work day. While I am generally a CBD gummy and tincture gal, I have tried a couple of topical CBD products including bath bombs, pain balms and moisturizers through local CBD retailers in Vancouver, but the one I have shopped the most with is Birch + Fog! In addition to carrying a ton of brands and products (both THC and CBD), they also have their own house brand of products with Birch + Beauty being the latest addition to their CBD product line up! 

Currently, there are five products in the Birch + Beauty collection (I'm sure there will be more to come!) that are all made in Canada: the Radiate Eye Cream, Soothe Daily Calming Moisturizer, Renew Daily Anti-Aging Moisturizer and a Lavender and Charcoal Soap Bar. For today, I have the Renew Daily Anti-Aging Moisturizer and Lavender Soap Bar to share with you and hopefully the other products eventually! 

The RENEW Anti-Aging Daily Moisturizer contains neroli and rosemary oil to firm skin and restore elasticity along with carrot and lavender oil to rejuvenate aging skin and reduce scarring by promoting tissue growth. Aloe and CBD are soothing and anti-inflammatory with each 50mL bottle of moisturizer containing 1000mg of CBD. To put it into perspective, I take one CBD gummy at night that contains anywhere from 10-20mg of CBD, but keep in mind that topical application is far different than ingestion. Personally, I don't feel any of the same effects when using CBD in skincare compared to when I use CBD in edible form.

Ingredients: Water, Polawax, Stearic Acid, Vegetable Glycerin, Castor Bean Oil, Sunflower Oil, Aloe Vera Extract, Hempseed Oil, Carrot Tissue Oil, Vitamin E, St. Johns Wort Oil, Neroli Oil, Rosemary Oil, Lime Oil, Lavender Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid, Hemp Oil (1000mg)

The scent of the moisturizer is earthy and leans more towards lavender for me (which I love), but I know there is much debate about essential oils in skincare. I am all for it, but I know that it might not work for some so make sure to patch test before applying this all over your face! The nicest thing about this moisturizer is the texture as it is completely non-greasy and absorbs right away into the skin leaving a perfectly smooth finish. I would describe the process as "a burst of water" followed by immediate absorption with a silky finish. This moisturizer would actually be GREAT as a hand cream since no one likes greasy hands on a keyboard!

The Lavender Natural Soap Bar is gentle enough for cleansing both the face and body and contains just six ingredients: olive oil, beeswax, sodium hydroxide (lye), water, lavender essential oil and CBD isolate in grapeseed oil. The bar itself smells subtly of lavender and is very soft and creamy on the skin. There isn't a whole lot of lather, but it does rinse off well leaving my face and body feeling clean! 

Final verdict: While I have only been using the moisturizer for the month of September, I have been enjoying it because I specifically like moisturizers with this texture in the mornings or after I have used a more hydrating sheet mask. The face and body soap has been convenient to use in the shower and is what I use as a second cleanse for my face on days where I have sunscreen. While CBD is believed to assist in calming skin and conditions like acne, psoriasis and eczema, always check with your doctor first. Personally, I have very uninteresting skin that does not react to much so I am not the best candidate to look at with regards to these issues, but what I can say is that hydration was good, texture lovely and I look forward to seeing more from Birch + Beauty!
