EVENT | A Day with Dior Beauty: Facials and Matcha

It's not very often that I do back to back events with Dior in one day mainly due to my lack of energy and not wanting to stay downtown and dealing with traffic on the way home. With how busy and chaotic the last few weeks have been, I was willing to make the drive downtown and get an amazing facial as well as do a little bit of shopping!

LIFESTYLE | Six on Saturday - Flowers, Watches, Dior and more Flowers!

I have not done one of these in awhile and because I missed Friday, it means I get to do Six on Saturday! What I like about these posts are that it jogs my memory about what the last two weeks have been like as well as teaches me to be appreciative of what has happened in my life because a lot of the time, life moves way too fast!

ONE: Whenever a client says they are thankful for the service I have provided them with, it always makes me smile, but when they add in a little something special like flowers, it's really extra special. These were hand-delivered to the store and I had no idea who would have sent me flowers because it's not like it happens every day and then of course, the pessimist in me thinks it's a stalker! Thankfully, that was not the case and I got to enjoy these beautiful orchids in my office for the next week as my cats would have eaten them had I brought them home!

BEAUTY | Content Goals for 2026

Pixyls Christmas

I am a little late in finalizing my thoughts for what's to come for me and the blog this year, but I feel like from watching YouTube videos of both past and present creators I have been following that "having less" and focusing on things of value is the theme for 2026! For me, it was a already a theme for 2025 with trying to cut down and track my spending and what started with watching finance content eventually evolved into the algorithm recommending minimalism videos. The above photo is an example of a hobby that I kind of went crazy with in the last year, but what I like about it is that even though I have spent like $4000 on Pixyls since 2024, it's a hobby that stores neatly and the only "equipment" you need is a pair of sharp tweezers. I store most of my completed pieces in a big art notebook and that's it! Anyway, here is what you should be seeing from me and Cosmetic Proof this year!

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday (Poke, Chocolate, Pompon, Walks and Pixyls)

I keep thinking about this tuna and mango poke bowl I had at Cactus Club during my birthday week and just how refreshing it was! It was also plated beautifully which helped!

LIFESTYLE | Reflecting Back on 2023

Rainbow at Waterfront

Well, hello there and here we are looking back on 2023! I will say that this was by far the fastest year I have experienced! Personally, a lot happened for me that made everything whiz by in a flash! Though I don't expect you to read through what happened in my life every month of 2023, I find doing these types of posts valuable just for my mental well-being especially when I feel like I can't remember exactly what happened in March or May. I'd like to think that I was still conducting my life in a valuable way and maybe it allows you all to know more about me and how perfectly boring my life is. In a good way of course!

MAKEUP | I Turn the Big 4-0 Today!

The day has finally come and I cannot believe that 10 years ago I posted this giveaway celebrating my 30th birthday...I am in a much better headspace for 40 than I was for 30 I will tell you that! I feel like there was a lot of pressure for 30. When I turned 30, I wasn't married yet (engaged with TBA wedding date) and my career was still up in the air as I was finishing a second degree at UBC and still wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. 10 years later, I am so much more content with my life than I was with no plans of going back to school or switching careers (unless it's in the world of LEGO or cats!).

Experience | Sabai Thai Spa Calm and Glow Spa Package

Gifted service

While I used to think that facials and massages were only for special occasions, once I started having a more stable income, I realized that spa treatments were both a mental and physical therapy session for me. They reset my body and help me to recharge to survive another work week or give my skin its glow again! A few weeks ago, I was invited to experience the Calm and Glow Spa Package at the newest Sabai Thai Spa location in Metrotown and I could not say no!

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Jan.20th - New Couch, New Book, Cream Pony, Work Catch Up and Paris

ONE

We got a new couch! We have been looking for a couch for, I kid you not, 5 years. Our old couch was so beaten up after getting clawed by cats that we were on the hunt for something nicer (it was a cheap $500 couch that worked when we first moved in together) that would withstand cats and look more chic. We finally committed to a couch and ottoman from EQ3 during their Black Friday sale last November. The ETA for both items was 14-16 weeks so we braced ourselves to expect a new couch closer to Spring, but instead we got the call that it was arriving last week! We got some extra cushions and now the search is on for a rug because with our current layout, it still looks like we have just moved in.

LIFESTYLE | Reflecting Back on 2022

Maybe it's who I follow, but I have come across a number of people who have said that 2022 was a tough year and though I am trying to resist falling into the trap of "Good riddance to 2022 and bring on 2023!" we all know what happened when we thought that about 2019 going into 2020. It's no surprise that I find it hard to characterize 2022 as anything other than the year we lost our beloved kitty companion Hugo, but I really wanted to look closely at the rest of the year as bad and good things will continue to happen on our individual life timelines and whether they happen on the calendar year, fiscal year, or however you want to organize time, I don't want to say that one year was bad so the next year must be good. The next year will just "be" and I can choose to add some things to it or circumstance will spice it up for me. Whether I like the taste is another issue, but as I turn 40 this year, I will probably throw more caution to the wind and open myself up to new experiences!

SKINCARE | Birch + Beauty Renew Daily Anti-Aging CBD Moisturizer and Lavender CBD Soap Bar

It has been no secret that CBD has become a big part of my life as it has helped me with sleeping more soundly at night and be less of a grump during the work day. While I am generally a CBD gummy and tincture gal, I have tried a couple of topical CBD products including bath bombs, pain balms and moisturizers through local CBD retailers in Vancouver, but the one I have shopped the most with is Birch + Fog! In addition to carrying a ton of brands and products (both THC and CBD), they also have their own house brand of products with Birch + Beauty being the latest addition to their CBD product line up!

LIFESTYLE | Pet Grief and Losing Hugo

I have been trying to write a "normal" beauty post for over a week now and I can't so I thought maybe I needed a post in between to settle my mental state and act as a bridge of sorts to connect the last post (which I had scheduled and written a week beforehand) to now. If you follow me on social media, you will know that we lost our beloved kitty Hugo in the early morning hours of August 7th. On my boy's 8th birthday. Just three days prior, he was his normal, annoying self and had even snuggled with me, as he did every night, and gone to sleep nestled in my arms. The next morning, I noticed he seemed to be in pain and was walking slowly. He did not come for breakfast or treats which, like most cats who are very food-motivated, was very unusual. He looked nauseated and had had an episode similar to this in June that resolved itself in about 3 hours with no symptoms afterwards so my husband and I decided to go to work and hope that it would clear up when we got home. Obviously, that didn't happen and Hugo spent his last three days alive at Canada West under observation.

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Jun. 3rd - Obi-Wan Kenobi, Stranger Things, Wrapping up #SheetMask365, Top Gun and LEGO Fun at Work

ONE

After being sorely disappointed with The Book of Boba Fett, I was really hoping that Obi-Wan Kenobi would be better and so far it is! I am a big Ewan McGregor fan and it is interesting to see how the world  sees Jedis after all the shit that went down in Episode 3!

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Apr.22nd - Severance, Over the Top, Pink Gems, Movie Night Out and a Pretty Coffee

Ooh, I haven't done one of these posts in awhile! It has been a bit crazy the last two weeks so I haven't had a chance to do anything really fun or take pictures of anything I have been enjoying. Work has been about keeping my head above water, but we all made it out alive which is what matters!

OMG this show! I haven't finished it yet, but I saw the tweets for the season finale and everyone's minds were blown (even Stephen King's!). I like Adam Scott's performance in The Good Place and of course Parks and Recreation  so when my husband first told me what this show was about, I was immediately fascinated! I actually have always wanted to not think about work at home and that's what Severance is about! People voluntarily separate their brains so that while at work, they only know work and when they clock out, their "outies" or home selves only know their home life and nothing of work. Creepy and weird, right? Talk about a work-life balance extreme!

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Apr.1st - Spiderman: No Way Home, LEGO Tiger, OPUS Aperitivo Spritz, Pulled Pork and Teen Vogue Article

It's April Fools' Day, but I don't "celebrate" and generally hate this day when it comes to social media because you never know what to believe. I only like the kind of jokes that are brutally obvious like "Invisible Nail Polish" not pregnancy announcements or things that mess with people's emotions because I think that is just mean! Not too much happening this past week, but definitely five things that made me smile!

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Mar.25th - Book of Boba Fett, Sample Wall, Day Out with Gerry, Holt Renfrew Haul and Turning Red

I didn't think I would actually sit down and write this as it has been challenging to get content out this month. Yes, I know blogging isn't everything, but I can never shake the feeling that I should be writing because I am still trying to make room in the beauty room to display my LEGO! Blogging about sheet masks isn't creating enough space and what I REALLY should be doing is blogging about whole skincare and haircare collections because those take up quite a bit of room! I do have a schedule laid out for myself, but finding the energy is the next step! While, this isn't a beauty post, it does help me feel a little bit better!

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Mar.18th - The Woman in the House..., Sephora Haul, Lamy Pico, New Favourite Book and More Walks!

Wasn't expecting to not do a Five on Friday for such a long time, but lo and behold this is my first Five on Friday this month! There has been a lot going on in the world and my day job just ended up consuming so much of my mental and physical well-being that my attention span at home hasn't been great other than for watching movies. I feel like I will never catch up which is somewhat disheartening, but I am chipping away at my pile of stuff to do and hoping that as long as nothing new pops up, I'll be able to feel a little more accomplished! February was so nice and relaxing where I felt caught up at work and I was able to blog so much! It always feels nice to see a solid history of a couple of blog posts each week!

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Feb.25 - Diamond Painting, Wealthsimple, Truffle Butter, LEGO Lion Dance and Satin Rollers

It has been a heavy last couple of days and there will be more to come. Everything beauty-related I talk about or post seems tinged with guilt that I should be even thinking about something like this while men are being sent off to fight and women and children are hiding in bomb shelters in Ukraine. Maybe today's #FiveonFriday has a bit more of a purpose because I REALLY felt like I had to find five things that made me smile.

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Feb.18 - Harry Potter Brickheadz, Booster, SPUD Order, Murderville and Enjoying Nature

This past week I was on a lovely staycation and while parts of it were productive, I was very sloth-like for the majority of it and I guess that's ok! The whole purpose was to catch up on some beauty things, do some beauty clean out (which I did!), read, watch the Olympics and get my movie count going again!

LIFESTYLE | Five on Friday - Feb.4 - Facial, Ozark, Neo Naturelle, Cheekbone Beauty Haul and Greek Salad Obsession!

I feel like a billion years have passed since I did the activities listed in this week's edition of Five on Friday so I guess it has just been one of those weeks! It was a productive week in terms of blogging and putting out some content which, even if there isn't a lot of reach, I still love knowing that I have my own personal "library" of beauty content!

ONE

I have been going to Rejuvenating Body Spa for the past seven years and love this little hole in the wall that you would walk right past on the street! Service is fantastic and the staff value quietness so there isn't a lot of chatter. I love supporting this local business so I try to treat myself to a facial or a massage with them every 1-2 months. This past week, I got a Hydrating Facial along with a Hot Stone Massage which was heaven!

LIFESTYLE | Looking Back at 2021 (It Was Kind of a Crazy One)

I often refer back to my previous year's post for 2020 just to see where my head was at and now a year later, I feel like not a lot has changed AND that the world has changed. When I wrote my post last year, there was no vaccine for me yet and now after two doses and a booster to come, I don't feel quite as afraid, but now we have the Omicron variant to deal with. I think at some point, no matter how careful I am I will probably catch it as this variant seems to be much more infectious, but thankfully survivable for most. This past year has been somewhat dystopian in feel with the world being divided over vaccinations, vaccine passports and government mandates and I am thankful that most of my friends and family are fairly rational people.
