MAKEUP | NYX This is Milky Gloss with Swatches

I know, I know. I have been working on whittling down my beauty collection in the office for the past month and now I have three new lipglosses... As I have been purging, in a weird way I feel like I have been given a pass to purchase new things and truth be told, a lot of the makeup I have is not new as I have slowed down my makeup purchasing quite a bit since the pandemic started. Skincare has been consistently purchased, but makeup took a bit of a backseat especially lip products. What spurred me into buying the new NYX This is Milky Glosses was the green shade in the middle - Mint Choc Chip Shake. The packaging said it was FLAVOURED and as this is one of my all-time favourite ice creams (I can never justify buying it since my husband hates it), I had to have it. I also had to have some of its friends! 

 

Why is this lipgloss so special? Coming in 12 delectable shades/flavours, these lipglosses are vegan and are also infused with "dairy-free vegan milk" to hydrate for 12 hours. I have no idea what this vegan milk is nor can I decipher it out of the ingredients list so if someone knows, I will update this post!

These glosses aren't actually flavoured, but are scented like the names of their shades so when I was deciding what shades to pick up, it was a combination of both colour AND scent! These glosses are buildable and deliver a milky, glassy finish.

Mango Lassi

Though it was Mint Choc Chip Shake that got me interested in these glosses, Mango Lassi has turned out to be one of my favourite shades to wear especially with a coral/orange blush. This has just a hint of bright orange and smells JUST like a fruity Mango Lassi! If you haven't had this beverage before, head on over to your favourite Indian restaurant! It also helps to curb spiciness!

Mint Choc Chip Shake

Of course the green shade ends up being the most muted and tame of them all! This can definitely be layered up to show the green tint more, but I like it as a one swiper and the scent is perfectly minty with a hint of chocolate. 

Salted Caramel Shake

I was a bit torn on picking up this shade as I already have many nude glosses, but another dessert flavour I love is salted caramel ANYTHING. A candle, chocolate, ice cream, cookie and now I have a lipgloss! The scent isn't quite as sweet as I had hoped for, but I still get that whiff of caramel. This gloss is actually quite pigmented and this is the only one out of the three I picked where I would not build up the colour mainly because it starts to get goopey and then the strings of product start appearing between the lips when I talk which is just gross. Just do one coat and spare yourself the the horror show.

Final verdict: I do like these lipglosses moreso for the novelty of the scents and colours. They do provide a delightful glassy finish, but I cannot say the same for 12 hour moisture. I find that the glossy finish fades after about an hour and once it dries down, while my lips didn't feel dry, I definitely felt the urge to reapply the product. The colour still remains though which is nice. There are nine other pretty shades with equally delicious flavour names and while I was tempted to pick up more berry tones because I knew they would smell good, I don't wear berry tones a lot so the sensible side of me told me to stop. No regrets with purchasing these as I wear them a lot at home and at work and I got what I was expecting. Mango Lassi though, this one just smells so much like the real thing and if you are interested in an orange lipgloss, this one still looks "professional"!
