I cannot get ENOUGH of thermal polishes, let alone ones that are themed around science and all things nerdy. The Hormonal Efficiency collection from indie polish maker Doctor Lacquer was released back in 2013, but I still think it’s one of the most awesome indie collections I have ever seen! Serotonin is a bright green jelly polish with large teal and small magenta circle glitter with a smattering of teal hex glitter. This polish is bright green with cold and lime green when warm.

NAIL POLISH | Doctor Lacquer Silent as the Night
I picked up this polish last year, but never got the chance to wear it as is always the case for a nail polish enthusiast. Doctor Lacquer’s Silent as the Night is one of the prettiest, but strangest formulations I have used. First of all, my swatch looks much more translucent or jelly-like than some of the more midnight blue swatches floating around on the web. I am wearing 3 coats below with a TON of glitter fishing. I turned the bottle upside down, shook it around and yet I had to eventually pour out the polish to be able to hand-place the large pink circle and snowflake glitter pieces. BUMMER.
Swatch It Up | Doctor Lacquer–Stubs and Movember
I picked this polish up exactly one year ago and surprise, surprise, I never got around to wearing it until now. The fact that this Doctor Lacquer polish actually has the word “Movember” in it made me feel just silly wearing it any other time than November. Doctor Lacquer is one of my favourite indie polish companies and in my opinion, does the thermal polish in one of the BEST ways.
Stubs and Movember was a 3 coater for me and is black when cold and clear when warm. I love the contrasting bright blue hex glitter of all different sizes and of course the moustache glitter. There was an option to either have the moustaches inside the bottle ready to go OR to have them “on the side”. I chose to have them separately and I am glad I did because they refused to lie flat! I actually had to remove them because they were cutting my face and getting caught on everything!
Swatch It Up | Doctor Lacquer–Mistletoe the Line
I have a new indie polish love and it is Doctor Lacquer! This is a polish brand that jumped out at me because of wonderful thermal polishes in every collection especially my favourite one, Hormonal Efficiency! Hormones were always my favourite thing to learn about in school so to see polishes named after them was nothing short of amazing! I did get the entire collection, but since we’re in the middle of the holidays, I figured I’d show a Christmas polish first! This is Mistletoe the Line, which is a “cold-sensitive thermal crelly with a white base when warm, that turns mint green when cold. Mistletoe the Line has a delicate mix of festive holiday colors!”
I really had a hard time capturing my nails when this polish was fully green or fully white, but at least I got the green tips! This wasn’t exactly mint green for me and most of the time was not the most flattering colour on me, but it was incredibly festive and unique which garnered me many compliments asking about what polish I had on my nails. I believe Mistletoe the Line is now sold out so I feel badly showing this off to you guys, but maybe it’ll come back in stock if you ask nicely?
Hope you are all having a great Sunday afternoon!
