SHEET MASK | Black Timeless Control Clarifying Truth Mask

Black Timeless Truth Mask Review

I feel like I am almost working part-time this month as we are trying to use up some of my vacation days before the end of the fiscal year wraps up since we can only carry over so many days. I had a whopping 10 days that I needed to use which is crazy considering I have never run into this problem before and then we realized that now that my work environment is relatively pleasant, I haven't felt the need to get away! I vowed to myself that I would use this time to get back on track when it came to blogging, but I've actually been working from home as there is a sales target I would like to meet for work and though it's not a big deal for me if I make it or not, it's just something I personally would like to see on my file!

SHEET MASK | Fan Beauty Secret Black Spruce Hydra-Filler Black Mask

Purchased by me

This week has been an interesting one as I have been very focused on the topic of mental health and though I hear about it all the time and understand how important it is, I never realized how much WORK it was to stay on top of it. It's like exercise or making something a habit and it's not easy. I won't get into the whys of why I have suddenly decided to start taking care of my brain more (at least not until it's less fresh), but I am going to be dealing with unpleasantness for probably the next year and I don't know how I'll do, but I guess I will take it day by day.

We are already more than halfway through July! Summer always goes by too fast! A lot of people ask me whether I want to travel anywhere when I take time off this season and I always have to say no because Vancouver is SO NICE this time of year! So far, it hasn't been too hot and as long we stay out of heat dome temperatures from the last two years, I am happy! I also use the cats as a gauge for how hot it is so if they are immobile pancakes, it's REALLY hot and if they are still playing then it's not hot enough!

SHEET MASK | For Beloved One Flawless Brightening Ethyl Ascorbic Acid Bio-Cellulose Mask

I did something today that I have not done in a very long time and that was to hang out at someone else's house and play board games and have brunch with friends! Everyone was fully vaccinated and there were only six of us so it wasn't like a huge shindig, but we have all also been fairly isolated with myself and one other person being the only ones NOT working from home. It was great to see friends again even if just for a few hours and we played a game which stressed me out called "Cockroach Poker" as I am not good at bluffing especially with my husband! By the time we got home shortly before dinner, I kind of just wanted to socially decompress hence the lateness of this #SheetMaskSunday post!

SKINCARE | For Beloved One Advanced Anti-Aging Ceramide Squalane Biocellulose Mask #100DaysofSheetMasks

Almost three years ago, I tried my very first biocellulose mask when Taiwanese brand For Beloved One made their Canadian debut in select T&T supermarkets. Sheet masks were just starting to catch on in the North American market (of course nothing is REALLY cool until Sephora starts doing it right?), but biocellulose is like NOTHING else. First developed in Taiwan by For Beloved One, the actual mask itself is made of what we all keep referring to as "biocellulose fibers", but do YOU know where those fibers come from? Our lovely friends - bacteria! Specific strains of bacteria are able to ferment glucose and produce cellulose which is then purified and made into a mask! So, essentially bacterial poop! Don't let this freak you out though because biocellulose masks are not only biodegradeable, but have long been used in the medical industry for burn victims or very dry skin to seal in and enhance moisture uptake in the skin as biocellulose fibers exhibit very low toxicity. Whether you love the science behind biocellulose masks or not, once you wear one, there is no comparison to a cotton sheet mask!

SKINCARE | Naruko Jing Cheng Face Renewal Miracle Mask #100DaysofSheetMasks

I keep talkin' Korean beauty, but the Taiwanese people make great skincare too! Last year I discovered Taiwanese brand Naruko and was really pleased with what I had tried so I was super excited when they agreed to be a part of my #100DaysofSheetMask Challenge! My 100th mask will be on November 8th and lemme tell ya, 31 day mask challenges will be a BREEZE compared to this one! I haven't seen anyone online do 100 straight days of sheet masking and it definitely isn't for the faint of heart. My skin is quite resilient so I haven't had any breakouts, but I am systematic about which combination of masks I am using so I will not use for instance, a super hydrating biocellulose mask back to back with another. Naruko makes some pretty good sheet masks (review here) with the Magnolia Brightening and Firming Mask being my favourite from them so far so let's see how the Jing Cheng Face Renewal Miracle Mask* fared against my current favourite!

SKINCARE | For Beloved Girl Extreme Moisture Mineral Cloud Silk Mask #LunarFebruary

Two weeks ago, I reviewed the For Beloved Girl Skin Renewal Silk Mask and loved it so I thought I would continue with my thoughts on the other five masks in the FBG series especially this one that I have been using during the dry winter months - the Extreme Moisture Cloud Silk Mask* (3 pcs/$12.99 CDN)! The focus of this mask is obviously moisture with a focus on sodium hyaluronate to give thirsty skin so much needed hydration. Let's see how different/similar this was to the last FBG mask I tried!

SKINCARE | Epic Naruko Multi Sheet Mask Review Complete with "Melfies"

Yesss, new skincare! I can never resist a new skincare brand especially an Asian one because most of the innovative new products that we have seen in North America have often been out on the Asian market for YEARS. While I am more familiar with Korean skincare, I was fascinated by a Taiwanese brand that is new to Canada called Naruko. Mainly plant-based in ingredients, Naruko has a number of different products that focus on brightening, tightening, plumping and even DNA repair. This brand felt very technical which I know not everyone enjoys, but I hope I can point out a few products that I really thought were outstanding and/or worth trying.
