MAKEUP | Blynqe Cosmetics Matte Finish Liquid Lipsticks Review with Swatches

I love my hometown of Vancouver for its mountains, trees and now Blynqe Cosmetics! Liquid lipsticks have been all the rage for the better part of my blogging life and as of this past May, we can welcome a local Vancouver company to the liquid lippie family. I have slowly been getting more comfortable with wearing brights and what has always held me back was the fear of having the colour migrate to my teeth or face! Matte finishes have taken that fear out of my mind as glossiness or creaminess are what make colour want to jump ship. As they are a brand spankin' new company, Blynqe has just three shades in its liquid lipstick line up, but man do they make a statement!

Retailing for $15 each, these are highly pigmented matte finish liquid lipsticks that give an incredible punch of colour without feeling too heavy nor cause lips to look parched at the end of the day.

Chit Chat* is a bright, purple fuchsia that was probably the most "liquid" in formulation and took two thin coats to give me the evenness in colour I wanted. Reign* is a bright, blue-toned red and needed just one coat. Morning Grind*, a pinky mauve, was actually my favourite for every day and seemed the most pigmented of the three. It applied more like a cream and I barely had to press down on the doe-foot applicator to cover my lips.

Reign - makes me want to have crazy hair and was a shade I found a bit more tricky to apply around curves due to its highly liquid formulation.

Chit Chat - In general, I love this colour, but it makes me look a bit washed out so I feel the need to amp up the blush factor whenever I wear shades like this!

Final verdict: These were actually pretty cool! Colours were very vibrant and the scentless formula did indeed feel quite weightless and light on the lips. While matte lipsticks are rarely moisturizing, these were easy to wear for hours and didn't make my lips look like they were suffering from desert dryness. In terms of longevity, all three colours made it through a work day, BUT were not transfer-proof. Drinking and eating saw some colour transfer and if you happen to wipe your lips with your hand the colour will move a little too. I think this a great start for such a new company and I look forward to seeing what other shades Blynqe comes out with! I would love to see some nudes and more purple-based shades!
