Review–NYX Slide On Eye Liner

Hello Beauties!

I picked up three of the NYX Slide On Pencils on my last Beauty Joint Haul in Sunrise Blue, Purple Blaze and Esmeralda. Glitzy Gold I actually picked up at IMATS last year. Speaking of which, is anyone going to the one in Vancouver in a few weeks? I don’t think I’m allowed to go this year as my place is already swimming in beauty products as it is so I will have to live vicariously through those who decide to go! My love affair with these eye pencils began with a single, ultra smooth swatch of Glitzy Gold while waiting in line at IMATS. What amazed me was not just how easily the pencil would glide across my skin, but also how pigmented and intense the swatch was! I restricted myself to just the one colour, but I could not stop thinking about these pencils for months afterwards!

Don’t let the softness of this eye liner pencil fool you. Silky soft yet delivers a powerful robust color to line eyes. The formula is waterproof, doesn’t smear or smudge, and provides extreme color. It’s like a liquid eye liner in a pencil without the mess.

Packaging: These eye liners come with sleek black caps which I didn’t show in this post and also feel a little bit slimmer than a traditional eye liner pencil.

Formula: Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE these pencils for how truly smooth they glide across the skin. It’s like these guys just skate right across the eyelid giving you a consistent line. The colour payoff is great and there are 18 beautiful shades to choose from! If anyone is wondering how these guys compare to the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencils, they are quite similar and what’s nice is that they are much cheaper than the UD ones! As for whether these are smear or smudge proof? Sadly, I’m going to have to say no. One swipe of the finger and I can wipe most of the colour right off. The eye liners will probably put up more of a fight with primer, but on their own they don’t hold up well to physical irritation. Are the NYX Slide On Eye Liners also really like a liquid eye liner in a pencil? That I also have to disagree with. When I think of a liquid eye liner, I think of rich, dark, incredibly intense colour, but from my experience I feel these are far from that definition. I suppose you could build up the colour one line at a time, but I think a true liquid eye liner just needs one swipe to create impact!

Final Verdict: If you like the UD 24/7 Glide-On Pencils, you’ll really like these NYX Slide On Pencils. If anything, I think the formula, not to mention the price, on the NYX eye liners is far better! These pencils are $7.99USD on Beautyjoint.
