SKINCARE | Tata Harper Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint in Very Charming and Very Vivacious Review with Swatches

Tata Harper is a skincare company, but when they make a colour product, I pretty much have to have it since much of the same care that is taken to create a skincare product is put into something even as tiny as the Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tints ($50.00 CDN). I didn't actually get a chance to pick these up until after I had left TH because I was far more interested in their skincare, but they started to grow on me because I used the tints to touch up clients after mini facials and really loved how they looked on other people.

The Lip & Cheek Tints are one of the few products in the entire Tata Harper line that are vegetarian instead of vegan as they are made with beeswax. In total, there are six tints, some of which were not available in Canada at the time, but of the ones that were, Very Charming, a classic petal pink, and Very Vivacious, a rusty coral, were my favourites.

I won't talk too much about ingredients with these particular products, but like every other Tata Harper product every ingredient is natural and is made right on the farm in Vermont. They actually swatch the colours under slides to make sure every batch is consistent. I know this because I saw them working on Very Popular before it got released! Not a single part of the manufacturing process is outsourced which is something I hope they can hang on to for the amount of product volume they produce.

Like most dual lip and cheek products, these tints work better on one area than the other. Personally, these worked better for me as a cream blush. The pigmentation was beautiful and very easy to blend. Like most cream blushes, it has a bit of tacky finish so skin will be left with a bit of a glow. While the tints do look pretty on the lips, they do not last very long and you will need to reapply in about an hour. The scent is also fairly unique as it is kind of sweet and beeswaxy?

Final verdict: Tata Harper has recently undergone a price increase in Canada so $50 for 5.5g of lip balm/blush may seem like a stretch, but this brand is a luxurious one in the green beauty realm. Personally, I liked Very Charming enough to purchase Very Vivacious, but as much as I love them I worry that they will go bad before I get a chance to use them up as the shelf-life is about a year. If you love the brand or are looking for a natural lip and cheek product, the Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tints will not disappoint as the pigmentation is wonderful and my lips actually felt a little more voluminous after application.

Tata Harper is available at Sephora, Murale and a number of indie boutiques like Green and Pure Beauty and Beautymark in Vancouver.
